What’s the connection between Italian violinist and composer Niccolò Paganini and American blues legend Robert Johnson? You are going to have to read the wine ...tasting notes for our November 10th concert, Dancing with the Devils, to find out. Inner Space sommelier in residence Paul Hines explains the connection and connects some great wines with some amazing music. You’ll find the tasting notes on the Inner Space app. You can get the app here: https://innerspaceconcerts.glideapp.io/
On Sunday, I had the pleasure of helping to celebrate the launch of Inner Space Concerts’ Season 7. Proudly produced in Nova Scotia, this talented group of classical musicians lead a live concert series in which local artists share their creativity. As their first Sommelier in Residence, I’ve been asked to pair wines to the music for each of the eight concerts in the series. So, just as I do for a food pairing, I’ll match the wine to the music’s region of origin, its style,... its complexity, or even its dominant mood. At Sunday’s launch, I chose two sparkling wines because nothing says celebration like bubbles! In future, I’ll feature a red and a white wine before each concert, provide some tasting notes, and the reason they were selected. It will all be posted on the Inner Space Concerts App about a week prior to the concert. This will give the online audience time to purchase the wines to enjoy with their concertwith none of the usual mark-up or line ups one has to pay at a live venue . https://innerspaceconcerts.ca/ See more
My son Colin challenged my wine knowledge when he asked if I had tried this. I replied, "No, I was holding out for an Alice Cooper 'Welcome to My Nightmare' Cuvee".
I’ve often said that the wines from Temecula, California are underrated. But unfortunately, with 25 million people living within an hour drive (and many of them pretty comfortable financially), they can get away with charging too much for a good product. Still had a great visit though! More than forty vineyards in this small wine region.
