The displays of knit poppies during this week of Remembrance Day are the culmination of a project undertaken for our congregation’s 185th anniversary year. A member suggested the project after seeing a similar display. Most of the poppies were made by the Knit Wits an informal group of members and friends who met every second week prior to the pandemic. One knitter made 2,000 poppies! Another made over 700. Some of the yarn was donated, some purchased. A sweater was taken apart, and the yarn repurposed. We solemnly commemorate the sacrifices of all the men and women of Canada’s Armed Forces who have fought to uphold the freedoms we enjoy in this country.
