Holistic Landscape and Design 30.10.2020

Prediction: that was the last big snowfall of the year and by April 20th we'll be back working in the soil!! This is a drone image of the 2.5 acre food forest at Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, I felt like today was a good day to see some green and imagine the growth! The second photo was a quick digital image of the future :) I will be working at MLCN this year as Climate Change Adaptation Community Coordinator and doing all kinds of exciting and positive actions with the youth, t...he Elders, and anyone in between. It's going to be an eventful and productive year with this lovely community! Life is good

:) "The food forest was designed with support from Steven Wiig from Holistic Landscape and Design who promotes a nature-inspired design system known as permaculture. Permaculture is founded on lessons observed in nature and from traditional practices, which have evolved into three core ethics and 12 design principles that can be applied to create systems which support nature, while providing for community needs in a sustainable and regenerative way." https://canadianfeedthechildren.ca/th/food-forest-planting/

The video of my first webinar! It is about the Food Forest at Muskeg Lake Cree Nation. Glenna Cayen talks for the first 30 minutes or so about how it developed from a community perspective. It was hosted by Canadian Feed the Children. https://youtu.be/zsLPeuZpiZk

Pretty excited, This Wednesday I'll be co-hosting this webinar with Glenna Cayen from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation. Anyone is welcome to join and watch, also there will be time to ask questions on food forests and our experience implementing one with Muskeg Lake First Nation.
