Been a while for posts but things have been busy shoeing and trimming this year. Vallie being shoed for this weekend.
Continuing on with this horses hind right foot after a life of bad trims. 3 weeks ago the hind was 2/3 offset from its centre frog line and 3/4 off balance in the heel hight and concave in the quarters by 3/4 inch. Today was the day to get the rest of everything back 100%. You can see after the shoe is on how bad the quarters were cut concaved before I saw this horse 3 weeks ago. Anyways today got the offset heel removed and fill the missing quarters with epoxy to give this horse full contact on the ground. Touched up other hind as well but on a much more minor defect. Hopefully this horse gets the next 6-8 months of trims and shoes every 5-6 weeks to get a chance of a full recovery
A good shoe fit is hard to see, that's the point. Nothing worse than seeing iron hanging out to step on.
Fixing some real hoof issues. Front left was needing some major help and adjustments and right front some minor adjustments. Decided to go down the rabbit hole and get after it and fix the problems now. Back hinds will get quarter cracks addressed, repaired, epoxied and shoed next.
DRIVES ME CRAZY. This horse was trimmed just 3 weeks ago, probably was a cheaper deal or more convenient but you always get what you pay for. But what really drives me crazy is that the poor horse always pays the price and lives in chronic pain due to the owners decisions to save a few bucks. that's my rant for the year. I gave a description on each picture to aid in clarity of the before and after pictures. Life Data Labs Inc. Robert Hollasch
Custom built hind support shoe for a horse with a broken heel/bar and quarter detachment. Recommend owner to have horse on double strength farrier formula. If everything goes well we should have this fixed in about 3-4 months. Life Data Labs Inc.
Some positive posts is what we need nowadays. Here's one my clients Lacey getting it doneRobert Hollasch
Get what you pay for, that's a constant.
Congratulations to Pernille Rydberg and Noergaards Laval on their successful year competing in eventing. Taking home a 3rd place at Alberta Provincial Championship and finishing their year as Reserve Champions on the Alberta leaderboard in their division.
Today's special horse got some Hollywood silicon injection . Actually he got corrective shoes with pads with injected silicon for sole support. Gonna be one happy horse with his new nikes.
At this stage close enough isn't good enough when it come to your farrier. Thanks Pernille for the trust factor all these years. Robert Hollasch
Before and after picture correcting rolled over Roman nose front hoof. Rolled over hoof was 65 degrees and 1/2 inch shorter in the toe section area. Made a forward mount shoe and added a false epoxy toe section to bring hoof/pastern angle back to a natural alignment of 56 degrees and also the break over is back to normal. Horse now has a matching set of front feet also

A picture is worth a thousand words. Everything about your horse starts right here in this pic. Finished trim, 1" shoes, heals levelled, correct pastern to hoof angles, proper heal height, correct toe length. This is the first place to look at before consulting and evaluating why your horse might be sore somewhere else
Another busy week shoeing Horses. Tip of the week here is look close at the rear hoofs and shoes. Heal bulbs are balanced and parallel to the ground surface in these pictures. If you don't have this view after your trim or shoeing your horses, hoofs are not balanced which in turn means a sore horse upstairs on your horse.
