It was a year ago that we opened the seniors safe house, offering temporary housing for homeless seniors, and those escaping dangerous or abusive situations. Today I am saddened to report that the facility, the first of its kind in BC, continues to be full. On a happy note, the seniors are out of the heat and will stay dry when the next shower blows through. Feel compelled to help? Monetary and non perishable food donations are always welcome. ... Coast Capital Savings is once again helping us provide financial literacy, an essential skill for employment, in our Wired 4 Success program. Wired 4 Success helps youth with barriers to employment to develop the skills and experiences they require to obtain and retain employment. Thank you Coast Capital!

Today in partnership with the West Vancouver Police Department, North Vancouver RCMP and Hollyburn Family Services Society, we held an event to launch the North Shore's 1st Integrated Domestic Violence Unit. Keeping victims safe and offenders responsible. Domestic violence spreads its ugly head across every culture, every age and every gender. Say something! Don't stay silent! Let's end domestic violence and put the domestic violence unit out of business!

Did you know that something as simple as eating dinner could help North Shore’s Youth Safe House? Whenever you eat at Boston Pizza Esplanade Hollyburn Family Services Society will receive a 10% rebate on all food items. Simply, on the back of your food receipt, sign "Hollyburn", then place it in the drop box located at the hostess stand.

Thanks to BC Housing for a small grant that allowed up to renovate the kitchen at the Seniors Safe House - see the before and after. The cupboards are full, the beds are made and we anticipate our first guests in the next week.

Last night we celebrated the transformation of a vacant house into a beautiful home for homeless seniors. thank you to United Way, McCarthy Tetrault, Lynn Valley Lions, and our amazing supporters who provided money, supplies and time.

What a day for a cruise to whistler - hot and smoky - kinda like the motorcycles. Thanks everyone for participating. It was a fun day!
