***Abnormalities do not equal pain*** . . . Have you been told by your doctor you have arthritis? Slipped disks? Scoliosis? ... . . . The TRUTH: Many people live with conditions/abnormalities without even knowing it because they have no pain! . . . Often when we're told we have something, like arthritis for example, we give ourselves this "arthritis" label and accept a 'life sentence' so-to-speak..."oh I have arthritis, there's nothing I can do about it, I'm always going to deal with pain"... Good news! It doesn't have to be that way!!! . . . It doesn't have to be that way!! . . . Movement is key in living a pain free life, even if you have an 'abnormality' in the body. (And there are always modification and alternative movements for people out there with limitations!! ) . . . And therapeutic massage from a trained and informed therapist can help facilitate relief if you do have pain and decreased mobility!! . . . Come see me and see how I can help you decrease pain and increase mobility (in ways you may have thought you'd never be able to do again) as well as give you some tools to take care of yourself! . . . #massage #massagetherapy #massagetherapist #move #massagetherapisthalifax See more

Wow! So cool! 'Emma right?! . . . Do not neglect the movement of your bodies. Move in different ways, in different planes of motion.... . . . Often we can get stuck in mechanical movement...squats, lunges, deadlifts, even yoga can become mechanical....I'm not saying that any of these movements are bad, please understand! But if we always do the same thing and essentially, go on 'autopilot', we aren't challenging the brain, the muscle tissue, ligaments, joints and the body as a whole . . . Challenge yourself in different movement (note that I say movement, not exercise: it doesn't have to burn or make you sweat, and it certainly shouldn't hurt! You may remember in some of my previous posts that I've mentioned we need to move within pain free ranges to teach the nervous system a new 'normal'. Also, the importance of repetition to teach the nervous system to down regulate and relax) Challenge yourself into NEW movement... challenge doesn't mean pain! . . . #massage #massagetherapy #massagetherapist #massagetherapisthalifax #move #movemore #movebetter #movesmarter See more
