Hope Cafe at Taste & See 06.12.2020

Hey everyone! Jesse-Lynn here :) Tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 17th) at 6:30 we meet for Hope Cafe' at Taste and See Restaurant, 609 Main St. Sussex. Hope is a bi-weekly gathering of courageous souls who are willing to take a step toward mental health and wellness. ... All are welcome! We are a support group. We gather to share, we gather to listen, we gather to learn. And for many of us, we gather to face our fears! Fear of social gatherings is something that I personally am very familiar with. There was a time in my life that my social anxiety was crippling. I couldn't even hang out with close friends of mine because I was so afraid that they would feel my fear, my anxiety, my uncomfortable energy, and that they would judge me harshly. I believed that nobody would want me around. I was wrong. When I started attending Hope Cafe' roughly 4 years ago I was terrified that I would be judged. I wanted to go because I wanted to be well and I wanted to see people, I love people! But I was so frightened. Thankfully, I had some gentle encouragement from a few friends to go anyway, to face that fear, and I discovered something wonderful! I discovered a community of people who understood what I was going through. I discovered a safe place to share my inner feelings and fears and struggles. I discovered a place that was supporting me in healing whatever wounds I had that made me feel like I wasn't good enough. Tonight, I wish to share with you my personal views on FEAR! And how I have learned to use fear as a motivator, as an ally, and as a tool for healing. I'm excited, and frightened to share this with you all! I hope to see you tonight. I know we're going to have a great discussion. With all the love in my heart... ~Jesse-Lynn Facilitator of Hope Cafe'

Hello friends! Today (Tuesday Nov. 3) would normally be the day the we all get together for Hope Cafe', however after a busy week this past week I have decided that I really need to take the evening for myself tonight. So, to honor what I need for my mental and physical health I'm going to postpone group this week. We will meet again in two weeks, which is the 17th of November and I'll be feeling re-freshed and ready to facilitate a wonderful meeting. ... I hope you all take the time tonight to do something special for yourself.

Good day, and happy Friday to you all :D I want to share with you some of the information I gathered this Tuesday when our group had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Allen Lee from Kingswood University here is Sussex. Dr. Lee came to group to share with us a bit about what he and Kingswood University are doing to help people in our community who are in need of some support in the area of mental health and well being. ... Kingswood University has several clinicians who are studying to become counselors and who offer their services to the community of Sussex for a very accessible price. They will work with you and your budget to get you counseling at a price that you can afford. They also accept many health insurances. Dr. Lee shared with us that they aim to connect with anyone who messages them within 12 hours, and normally they can get you in to talk with somebody face to face within a week. We also learned that because there are several counselors available, you may have a phone 'interview' with each of the clinicians if you wish to see who you think you might click with best. Although the counselors at Kingswood University are studying to become Christian counselors, their services are open to EVERYONE! regardless of religious beliefs or background. They will do their best to meet everyone where they are. They also offer counseling to all ages, including children. You do not need a Dr. referal to see any of the clinicians at Kingswood, and most of the clinicians accept health care benefit programs. For more information, please click the link below and fill out the contact info, someone from Kingswood will get in touch with you in 12 hours or less. Much gratitude to Dr. Lee and his group of counselors at Kingswood <3 https://www.kingswood.edu/counselling-centre-form

Good Monday morning. This Tuesday, October 20th, from 6:30 until 8:00 at Hope Cafe we have another special guest. Dr. Allen Lee of Kingswood University. Just over a year ago, Dr. Lee and his team opened a Counseling Center at the University that is open to the public. Dr. Lee is taking the time to come out and explain all that is offered and answer any questions. I have had a tour of this facility and it is very warm and welcoming as are the staff.
