In this text, we see a time of transition for the disciples and the rest of the Early Christian Church. Jesus had been with his followers for three years teaching and ministering to them. But now is the time for him to return to his Father in heaven. The disciples likely were left r...eeling a bit, what are they supposed to do now? In our lives, we have significant time of change occurring with the current pandemic. Jesus gave his disciples words to remember as he ascended to heaven. We should listen to these words as well. Christ has called us to be his witnesses on earth; he has given us a direction and a purpose...even when our circumstances change. Yesterday at church was a bitter/sweet day. Bitter because it was the last Sunday we could worship onsite before entering lockdown. But oh so sweet because we got to hear about our Shepherd King, have communion, see Martin Luther College senior Jordan (family pictured here) and come together to get all the recordings of steel pan, dance and readings, ready for this Saturday’s Advent by Candlelight! Today's Worship With us Wednesday takes us back to March 2020, pre-pandemic and pre-election. Though the nations rage from age to age, we remember who holds us fast! As we stand on the brink of another lockdown we take great comfort in these words, He holds us fast. And we thank him that although we are no longer able to worship onsite after Monday, we have the livestream capabilities to worship online.
