step into spring spring is officially here and boy am I LOVING it! the bright sun, the cool breeze and and the pouring rain. something about it all makes me feel rejuvenated! moving out of the winter season and into the spring is often tough as we are all comfortable with our warm heaters, cozy blankets and delicious hot drinks. don’t worry, I’m guilty too!... here are some things I’ve started including in my day to help make that transition from winter to spring an ease. many small steps lead to great distances what is something that you are looking forward to this spring?

ACCOUNTABILITY. making plans, dreaming big and creating goals are great, but how do we make them happen? staying accountable. I find myself giving up on things sooner when I don’t keep myself accountable for the new challenge I decided to embark on or the new goal I want to reach. often I caught my mind coming up with reasons to give up, finding excuses to say how its not possible (especially on those rough days) and I then saw myself drift away from my challenge or goal.... through the years I came across different tips that helped me stay accountable in various types of goals I was setting. some helped for personal goals and others helped for client-centered goals. swipe to learn some tips that helped us stay accountable for what we decided to embark on. these tips can be applied to many different goals! what are some tips you use to stay accountable? @hrim.wellness

Invest in yourself. We often get side tracked as we go through the course of life. We want the biggest the house, the fastest car and a stress-free lifestyle. All of that is great, but what if that can be an added BONUS to our life. With a nourished body, relaxed mind and positive outlook, achieving those goals become easier and enjoyable for us. First steps: 1. Add Something New. For example, every month I try adding a new nutritional change into my diet. In the long run I w...ould have experienced so many new changes and it will soon become a lifestyle. 2. Be Flexible. Our mind doesn’t like change. Be realistic on how and when it is okay to not follow this new change. For example, if I have a really long day, I won’t stress about not being able to get a workout in. 3. Slow & Steady. Over the years we have been conditioned to accept instant gratification from the world. With small changes everyday, throughout time you will begin to see the new changes in you, and that will be priceless. we all have abs! core activation is a vital part of any type of movement. a wise individual once told me, the only exercise you have to master is how to activate your abdominal muscles. it was true! core activation stabilizes the spine which is the one place where all of our nerves stem out of! from head to toe, all nerves stem from our spine/spinal cord. to ensure we prevent damage or strain on the spine, it is important to engage these muscles!... stay tuned for more about core activation!

finding it hard to find a workout regime that is effective? here is a skeleton of what to consider if you are building your own regime! warm up important aspect to help physically prep your body and your mind before a workout. stretching is a good warm up... cardio some light cardio for up to 5 minutes helps pump blood to all your muscles and increases your heart rate to kick start your body to efficiently burn calories resistance adding resistance through bands or weights helps you push past your comfort zone and aids with strength, endurance and power. rest believe it or not, sufficient rest between sets and exercises is key! your muscles need time to top up on some energy, so you can give it your all on your next set/exercise water when we get in a good workout, we definitely tend to sweat a lot! make sure to keep water a bottle near you! cool down a vital component to ensure we prevent injuries and muscle tightness. even if its 5 mins, take the time to bring your heart rate down, stretch and foam roll your muscles as needed! tag a workout junky below!

breathing - a process that we may take for granted not only does it keep us alive, but if we make use of it optimally, it will provide us with amazing benefits! how we breathe, the rate at which we breathe and the capacity of our lungs can greatly impact the way we think, the types of thoughts we get, the emotions we feel and the way we perform.... tip: next time you go by a body of water, try to look into the vastness and focus on your breathing. slow it down to match the waves. observe your thoughts, emotions and heart rate.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! As 2020 was definitely something we did not expect, we thought maybe we could share some things that we are working on implementing this year! HEAL ... Healing is an important aspect in our mental & physical health. We often get tunnel vision when faced with adversity and we forget all the things we do have. RELAX ME TIME is important. Creating time to unplug from this cyclic hustle bustle of the world is important to keep our state of mind in balance. What can we do? Breathe. Close your eyes and slowly focus on your breath. With every inhalation, focus on all the great things around you, with every exhalation, focus on releasing your insecurities, your stresses, and your struggles. Unplug to connect to the Universe for just a moment. IMPROVE Through observation, we can begin to see where we can change ourselves. Observing how we speak to others, how we take care of our body and how we treat others are a few of the many aspects in which we can try to improve. MAINTAIN Choosing the right goal and taking realistic steps towards it, is key. We often fall in the trap of the latest trend! Lets be different!
