HUDSON was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of highly decorated Canadian rower and legend, Kathleen Heddle. Known to most as Canada’s GOAT Female Rower, Heddle was a 4 x Olympic medalist (1992 Gold W2- & W8+ and 1996 Gold W2x & Bronze W4x) and 4 x World Champion, recipient of World Rowing’s highest distinction, Thomas Keller Medal and Canadian Sports Hall of Fame inductee. Heddle and Double partner Marnie McBean were the first athletes to win an Olympic Gold Medal ...in a HUDSON (1996 Olympics W2x Atlanta, GA). HUDSON Commercial Manager, Craig McAllister and North American Sales Manager, Jon Beare, as the Canadian LM2-, were invited by coach Al Morrow to be part of their group and become training partners with Heddle and McBean for the racing season of 1995. Kathleen was a hero to us, Beare and McAllister remarked. "It's rare in life to meet let alone work alongside an icon in your field. Rarer still is that the closer we got, the brighter she shone. Kathleen's calm and humility off water belied her relentless drive to bring her best every time she stepped in the boat. Kathleen was an example for us all.
