It's been a tough week, as we process the loss of a dear friend and dedicated member of our Huntsville YFC family. Wayne was passionate about the youth of our community and played a huge role behind the scenes as a member of our steering committee. He was always eager to serve, and always did so with a joyful spirit. As our building maintenance guy he fixed a lot of things, and so I had many opportunities to hang out with him and chat. We shared a lot of laughs, and enjoyed a lot of faith filled conversations along the way. And even while we mourn, we take comfort in knowing that he now rests in the company of Christ. Our prayers go out to his family, his broad circle of friends, and his church family as we grieve together. Godspeed Wayne ~ James

This is quite the season we find ourselves in. Never before have so many been impacted by such a concentrated set of events. The COVID-19 lockdown created the p...erfect conditions for the protest storm that erupted after the death of George Floyd and has reminded us of the importance and relevance of Jesus' command to love one another as we love ourselves. My wife, Christine, and I have been more tuned into racism and prejudice since the Lord brought our family together by the gift of adoption. Brown skin is 50% of our family make up. In our home this makes for wonderful conversation about God’s creativity, beauty in His creation, diversity and fun poking by our boys at our pasty white skin. But in the outside world our boys have experienced the ugly side of difference, prejudice and racism. Let us all take this opportunity to examine our hearts and weed out the roots of racism, prejudice and indifference that find their way into our lives. Let us be obedient to the greatest commands, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
