Here's an interesting tour video of some of the equipment in the Mining Analytical Lab. You can actually see into most of this space from the ILC atrium if you look way up at the windows on the east wall. Ever wonder what goes on up there? Well, this. And you might remember the story, videos, and live stream from earlier this summer about the "Hydometallurgy Lab" and the Ahmad Ghahreman research group in the Robert M Buchan Department of Mining here at Queen's.

Here's an interesting video featuring some of the research work by Denver and Farzaneh, two of the graduate students at work in that lab. The work they're doing is all about making mining, safer, cleaner, and more efficient.

Meet James. He's working on discovering ways to more efficiently extract cerium from ore for use in things like catalytic converters and self-cleaning ovens. Ever wonder where camping 'flint' comes from? James knows.
