Members of the Bargaining Committee & Executive of IAMAW Local Lodge 3111 CULR (affiliated with IAMAW Canada / Machinists Union / IAM District 78) will be sitting down at a bargaining table in the morning (Tuesday October 29th) with our employer (the Management of the Canadian Labour Congress) to resume negotiations for the first time since Tuesday October 8th. Meanwhile, the strike by our membership, the unionized staff of the Canadian Labour Congress (which began in the ear...ly morning of Tuesday October 15th), continues into a third week. We hope that renewed bargaining/negotiations in the morning will lead towards a fair settlement and a new Collective Agreement. Thanks to our allies and friends for your continued support as we strive for a FAIR negotiated contract.
We ask our friends and allies in Regina, Saskatchewan & surrounding area to hold the date for this fun Halloween Solidarity Sing-Along on the picket line of our Saskatchewan members on strike at the Canadian Labour Congress (while joining us in hoping that we are able to obtain a FAIR negotiated Collective Agreement prior to that date).
From barbecue rallies to sing-alongs to picket line street hockey, the picket lines of IAMAW Local Lodge 3111 CULR members on strike for FAIRNESS at the Canadian Labour Congress have had tremendous support from our friends and allies across the country. Thanks to our friends in Winnipeg for joining our member on strike in that city for some picket line fun! Keep your head up, and your stick on the ice!
The support from Labour Councils and Federations of Labour for the members of IAMAW Local Lodge 3111 CULR during our ongoing strike at the Canadian Labour Congress has been heartwarming. Thanks to the Edmonton & District Labour Council for this support for our striking member in Alberta and our membership.
UPDATE: The Union (IAMAW Local Lodge 3111 CULR) and the Employer have agreed to meet to further discussions with an objective of finding a resolution to the Labour dispute. The Union has submitted information to our actuary for costing proposals on the pension. Once we receive this costing we will work with the employer to confirm dates.
Day 9 on strike. Today we had a solidarity BBQ hosted by the Ottawa & District Labour Council. Thank you all for your support really appreciated. Here are a few pictures. #solidarity
