There are certain skills employers look for in any applicant, no matter what role you may be applying for. The four most important skills to equip yourself with are: 1. A Positive Attitude: There are no negatives to having a positive attitude at work. Being happy can rub off on other employees and make the day feel less grueling and will likely make upper-management think of you are trustworthy and agreeable. 2. Time Management Skills: Almost every job requires employees to ...wear different hats. It is important to be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines that are given to you. 3. A Good Work Ethic: Your work ethic is an important part of being successful at work. Forming good habits such as focusing, staying motivated and finishing tasks quickly always impresses employers. 4. Communication Skills: More than two-thirds of recruiters across ALL industries say communication is the most important skill they look for. Good verbal and written communication skills are important when impressing employers. This also means being able to share ideas AND practicing active listening! See more

This week we are feeling a little proud and we want to share that energy with you. Today we are looking at the history of Pride in Alberta. It's been 40 years since homosexuality was decriminalized in Canada, and we have made many strides, but we still have further to go, especially down here in the Foothills. Do you have ideas of what we can do in Southern Alberta to push the LGBTQ+ movement forward? Let us know by leaving a comment or sending a DM!... Michael Jordan spent his summers taking hundreds of jump shots a day. J. Cole worked tirelessly to get the attention of JAY Z for years before finally landing a meeting with the rapper. Venus and Serena Williams were up hitting tennis balls at 6am since they were 8 years old. The most successful people didn't get to where they are by sitting in their parent basement on their phones. They have a determination and dedication towards a job or goal - otherwise known as work eth...ic. You may be the most talented person to ever grace this fine planet, but that means nothing if you aren't willing to work your butt off - the harder worker will always win. You have to separate yourself by being the most professional, easy-to-work-with, responsible, driven force of nature that ever graced this planet. TL;DR: If you want to succeed you have to put in the work. [ID: A black and white photo of P. Diddy getting out of a limosine in a fur coat surrounded by photographers. Are you smarter than a computer? Maybe not all the time, but you can be when it comes to your resume. Applicant Tracking Systems, or ATS, are used by all sizes of companies to narrow down large groups of job applicants. Did you know Wal-Mart received 75,000 job applications in 2018? Imagine sorting through 75,000 resumes! You would probably quit before you made it through. This is why ATS was created, to simplify the life of the hiring manager or recruiter.... It may simplify the recruiters' life, but ATS makes it more difficult for applicants to have their resume seen by a human. That's why we have created a guide for you to be able to Beat the ATS Robot! #YouthEmployment #GetTheJob #Employment #EmploymentResources #SouthernAlbertaResources #YouthEmpowerment #SkillsForTheFuture #JobPlacements #Resume #YouthEngagement #HighRiver #Okotoks #Nanton #Claresholm #ATS #ApplicantTrackingSystem

Has job searching got you bummed out? Here's why you shouldn't take not hearing from employers personally: most applications do not even make it to the hiring managers' desk. This is because most companies use Applicant Tracking Systems, a computer software that organizes resumes and throws away ones that it deems "unfit". So, before you take your unsuccessful job search personally, think about how you can format your resume to beat the Applicant Tracking System and get your ...resume on that desk! [Image Description: A photo of resumes with a magnifying glass over them. Interesting Fact: Retail, food services, and construction are the industries that are most likely to hire employees between the ages of 15 and 24. So if you are a youth, or know a youth, looking for a job, maybe check if there are any positions in those industries. (Hint, hint.) [Image Description: Text over a faded image of a cashier reads: "Retail, food services, and construction were the three industries that employed the most Alberta youth in 2015."]... #YouthEmployment #SocialMediaEtiquette #GetTheJob #Employment #EmploymentResources #SouthernAlbertaResources #YouthEmpowerment #SkillsForTheFuture #JobPlacements #YouthEngagement #HighRiver #Okotoks #Nanton #Claresholm
