It’s starting! A team of Ikebana artists from Japan is working with volunteers to assemble 20-foot-long pieces of bamboo to create the larger than life sculptur...es that will fill the Center Walk and Exhibition Hall in our Conservatory. Ikebana International Ottawa Centennial Chapter held a fun workshop yesterday for members. Led by Miki Mitchell, the workshop was about combining mesh fabric in unique ways with Aspidistra leaves cut in different shapes.
One of the incidental but lovely aspects of Ikebana is the shadow created by the arrangement. Here are a few examples from the Ikebana International annual exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature.

Final preparations underway for the Ikebana International Annual Exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature! The opening takes place tonight and the exhibition is open to the public from Thursday April 11 to Sunday April 14. This may be just the tonic you need for a winter that does not end!
Mark your calendars! The wonderful annual Ikebana International exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature takes place April 11-14. Again this year there are also hands on workshops (registration is through the Museum).
