#COVID19 has been very difficult for Ontario’s agricultural and horticultural societies, which were forced to cancel all their fall fairs and exhibits due to th...e pandemic. Today, I’m very proud to be in London announcing a $5 million investment for our agricultural and horticultural societies impacted by COVID-19 restrictions as part of Ontario’s 2020 budget. Ilderton Fair 07.09.2020

One of our faithful Agricultural Society members Carol Small wrote a book about the history of the Ilderton Fair. She titled it Rain, Shine, and Snow. Since 1851 Ilderton Fair has been celebrating Agricultural through all of the conditions Carol used in her Title. A lot of our members are farmers that are use to battling a myriad of conditions but none of us thought we would be faced with a pandemic. Who would have thought we could have a fall without Ilderton Fair.... We will miss the many aspects that go together to create an incredible community fair. The Midway lights, the exhibits, the noise of the crowd and visiting with friends and family, so many activities that make up our fair. Whatever your memories of Ilderton Fair we hope this weekend you will take some time to reminisce. Thank you to all of the competitors in our Decorate for Canada Day competition, our Virtual Fair Competition and 4-H Livestock Sale. Special thanks to our members who made these events possible. We make be down this year but we are not out! Plans are in the works for 2021 and we hope you are planning for next year too! See you in 2021! Barbara Johnson President Ilderton Agricultural Society

Speaking of scarecrows ... Oxbow PS has been decorating for fall and made a few scarecrows in honour of Ilderton Fair weekend. They have challenged neighbours to make a scarecrow this weekend and tweet a photo with #ildertonfair . You can also add a photo to this post. Oxbow is also collecting donations for the Alisa Craig Food Bank from October 1-8. Touch-less bins by the school's front door.
