***Public service announcement*** for anyone out there in the industry/diy experts please stop using the back pressure connections on the rear portion of the receptacle when installing, just put in the extra time of 5 minutes to splice and pigtail your wires if you’ve got a few more that can’t fit under the termination screws, believe me that little bit of time prevents house fires. @duskosremac_repyyc from @repyyc had me check his clients home since he lost all power to all ...his receptacles and a few light fixtures. The issue was the circuit had lost it’s neutral due to using the pressure connections on the back of the first receptacle in the circuit. A client called today saying they had no power in their receptacles in the entire half of their home. With a little digging we found the issue...the large amounts of arcing in this breaker wore the wire out to the point where it snapped off, these issues occur when the terminal on the breaker isn’t made snug enough on wire causing arcing to occur when power is being drawn, double terminating under one screw isn’t helping the situation either. If the wires hadn’t broken off it... may have caused a fire down the road. We do panel inspections here at Illumination Electric to avoid situations like this arising.
