More changes will be implemented for Canadian citizenship applicants! The second half of the changes to Canadian Citizenship will come into effect tomorrow, October 11, 2017. These changes will include the following: 1) Applicants will now need to be physically present in Canada for only 3 years out of five years before applying for citizenship 2) Applicants will no longer need to be in Canada for 183 days in each of the qualifying years. In other words, the number of days i...n each year that the applicant is present in Canada will no longer matter, as long as the cumulative number of days present equals three years in the last five years. 3) Applicants who were temporary residents in Canada before receiving permanent residence will be able to use half the amount of time they were in Canada as a temporary resident (up to a maximum of one year) as part of their 3 year total. 4) The age range for language and knowledge testing will go back to the previous age range, which is between 18 and 54 years old. 5) Applicants will need to file income taxes for at least three out of the last five years to qualify for Citizenship. Contact us at 1-613-386-3337 or email us at [email protected] to inquire about a consultation regarding Citizenship or other immigration issues!

There are some small upcoming changes to the Express Entry system! Starting on June 6, 2017, if you are an Express Entry candidate, and you speak French or have a sibling who already lives in Canada, you will get more points under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). In addition to these changes, registering with the Government of Canada job bank will become voluntary rather than mandatory. EMPLOYERS! Do you know what the Global Skills Strategy is? This is a new Canadian government program being launched on June 12, 2017. If you are a high growth Canadian company, this strategy will help you attract specialized employees from around the world by providing faster and improved service for foreign workers. Here are some of the highlights: - The government will provide a Global Talent List of occupations that are increasingly in demand and are not being filled by ...Canadian citizens or permanent residents - There will be a two-week processing time for applications for Canadian work permits for low-risk or high skilled talent - Companies who make a considerable investment in Canada leading to job creation will have access to a special dedicated government service - International employees (foreign workers) may not need a work permit for short-term, high skilled work that is less than 30 days Visit our Facebook page in June 2017 for further information on this new initiative!
