**Update Re COVID-19**: Due to recent updates relating to COVID-19 from our national & provincial governing bodies & the federal & provincial governments, we have considered what is best for the health and safety of our clients, staff and the community. As of Tuesday March 17th at 1pm Impact Physiotherapy will be closed for 2 weeks (maybe more) unless we are given information otherwise. We are doing this in order to reduce opportunities for transmission of infection, especia...lly to those who are more susceptible, as in our profession we are unable to adhere to the requested social distancing of no more than 10 minutes in close contact (less than 2 metres) with anyone. COVID-19 & Your Physiotherapy Appointment: Due to recent events relating to COVID-19, Impact Physiotherapy will be implementing the following policies to ensure the health & safety of all our clients & staff: 1. Cancellation fees will be waived if you are cancelling your appointment due to illness or suspected exposure to COVID-19.... 2. If you are feeling sick (or have symptoms such as fever, coughing, shortness of breath, etc.) we ask that you cancel your appointment and we can discuss rescheduling after a two week symptom-free period. 3. If you have traveled on an airplane in the last two weeks, especially if you traveled to or through any regions where COVID-19 cases have been verified, please wait until two full weeks have passed before booking your next physiotherapy appointment. 4. If your spouse, family member, co-worker, or any other close associates are suspected to have COVID-19, please cancel your appointment until they have been confirmed as testing negative for the virus. If they test positive, please cancel your physiotherapy appointment until you have had two weeks symptom-free following your last contact with the person before their isolation. We are keeping in compliance with the current information provided by our professional organizations (CPA & CPM), Government of MB, Health Canada, & the World Health Organization. Thank you to everyone from the Winnipeg Roller Derby League for a wonderful evening at the #DiamondGalaAwards dinner! Its been so much fun providing First Aid at your bouts and I look forward to many more years to come working with your teams!! I am honoured to receive such a wonderful award! (And I cant wait to hang it on my Christmas tree next year!!)

Game #2 of the Winnipeg Roller Derby League 6th Annual Pride Bout! Way to keep us all on the edge of our seats till the last second!! You all are incredible athletes! So glad you only required some minor medical attention from myself, but more importantly used my other skills as a costume designer to fix a wicked hot blazer at halftime before someone got heatstroke......

Welcome Heather Unrau to the Impact Physiotherapy Team!! Heather officially started working 2weeks ago and is doing a great job of contributing to the clinic philosophy. With the addition of Heather as a second physio in the clinic, our wait times are shortening, allowing everyone to start their healing process sooner! Heather completed her elective placement at Impact during which time she learned many of Laurie's treatment techniques. Book with Heather if you're injured and want treatment right away!

Had a great time working with the athletes of the Alberta Ballet tonight! You all put on a phenomenal show!!

Great time at MEC BIKEFEST! Learned lots about bike fitting, had great conversations with people about injuries and sore body parts while riding! Ended up staying until almost 2pm!! Thanks Dylan Hewlett for inviting me to come out and talk about cycling injuries!

I have the best clients! Made my day yesterday, had me crying I was laughing so hard!!

It's been just over a week since we said our goodbyes to Alejandro Vasquez, one of our favourite clients and resident 'in-house DJ' when he came for his 4hr workouts! We miss you buddy!! We wish you all the best with new team! Hope you're kicking butt down in Chile!!

Great time at the Manitoba Open Fall Tournament by Gracie Winnipeg and Randal Boiteau. Lots of minor injuries to take care of. Great to catch up with all of the coaches and athletes!!

Fun weekend at the Western Canada Sprints Regatta for rowing! First races ever, finished first in the mixed double despite a rough start, but being in the Masters category, were bumped due to a lack of age handicap!! The mixed quad was a tight race as well! Great start to the season!!

Despite the rain, Saturday's Highschool Provincial Track Championships were very exciting! Most common injury? Shin splints, all overuse/overtraining/muscle imbalance issues at that age group. Most interesting injury? Triple jumper with a impact injury to the subtalar joint from landing wrong on the last hop. Congrats to all of the special olympics athletes who also raced hard despite the wet conditions!!
