This is going to be one awesome lift.
Lift 98 with the top 20’ section of the middle pitch in position as it follows the contours of the land. 4 sections in, 4 sections to go.
Lift 98 grew another 43 longer with the measuring, cutting, and fitting of the top curved section on Friday. Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe everyone.
Lift 98 is well under way. It’s an 80’ 3-pitch island lift that will provide the owners easy access to their cottage for decades. It’ll also be a spectacular ride as the angle changes from 19 at the top to 48 at the bottom.
Lift 90 is another step closer to completion.
The ups and downs of Lift 90.
Lift 90 is taking shape. We brought most of the team out to build the first 20 section of track. Its 63. When its done it will have three stations that connect the cottage to the main floor of the floating boat house to the dock level. It was a magical day to be on the cliff top building this lift out of steel and imagination, a lift that will be a little bit magical itself.
Were just starting Lift 90. Well, we started building it 2 years ago but had to wait for the dock to be located. James and Jason are drilling the first hole for the anchor bolts for the first leg.
Lift 97 in Minden is all but done.
Lift 96, The Hollinwood Flyer is all but complete. Its wheelchair ready and has 3 stations to connect the front porch with the fire pit with the water. Guy and Bob designed and built a new lower platform that itself connects the lift, stairs and dock. The old platform was rotten so it was great timing. It will be a joyful day when the lift owner gets back to the water after a long time away.
Lift 96 is taking shape. The track is almost done, Jasons giving the track a final coat of paint except for the bottom section which still needs one set of legs. Next week well add the machinery and the car. @ Dorset, Ontario
The new owners taking Lift 93 for a ride. (I called it Lift 94 in earlier posts. Oops) Smooth and comfortable.
Its a lift! The owners loved their first ride. If history is any guide, theyll be loving it for years. We have a few days work left to finish it.
The car and the winch will be working together soon. @ Eagle Lake, Parham, on
In week 1 we built 100 of Lift 94s track and have 12 to go. Plus a few other little things like a winch system, car, and control system to add too. @ Eagle Lake, Parham, on
James, Sarah and Jason had a great day and Lift 94 is 40 longer today.
Day 3, 2nd full day on the island, and 40 of track are up but not totally complete. Its close to the ground from here to the end. So close well have some rock to break.
Lift 94, Day 2, we squared the first section, lifted it 9 off the ground, and built the legs that fix it in place.
A day later, the motor, winch drum, dolly and car are on and the lift is running. It lands beautifully at the bottom, theres a natural step off the car and down to the dock and the waterfront walking path remains open.
The track for Lift 87 is in. The owner has the upper platform almost in too.
12 hours into day one on Lift 87 and Cody, James, and Wyatt nearly have the first section of track in. Its supposed to rain for 5 days straight so were trying to make hay while the sun shines.
Lift 86 is all but done. Ronnies crew are doing an awesome job with the deck. Its a four minute ride to get to the waters edge.
Lift 86 is nearing completion. Today's the day. The decks and wood won't be ready til next week and we're waiting for one more part to finish the lift but it's so close.
The very first early evening fishing and hiking trip from the cottage on Lift 86.
Wyatt, Cody, and James making the most of a few good days.
Touched down yesterday. 327 long, 3-pitches, 160 high, a very sweet piece of track.
First section on third pitch up. Lunch time.
Another great day on the hill, theyd predicted a dry day. It was a beautiful to be working lakeside. Were all but done the second curved section and tomorrow we use the hoist to start the third pitch. Cody spent the day with his kids, hey Cody, we love you. Chris was here to help with the build and weld. Always a great day when Chris is on site.
Another gorgeous day on the hill, the weather was awesome, sunshine all afternoon, what a treat. The lakes still frozen, but there are some pools of open water and it wont be long before its water again.
James, Wyatt, and Cody, making magic happen, another 40 of track up and in, thats 200 and were right at the edge of the first ridge. Tomorrow, we build the first curved section and set course for the next ridge. Well use our installation hoist, contraption on the track, to carry the rest of the materials to the build zone. What great day to be on a gorgeous hillside in the Haliburton Highlands.
We were back on the hill for 2 days last week, our first days in the field in 2019, and we built another 40 of track for Lift 86. So far weve built 180 of what will be a 360 long 3-pitch lift running from the cottage to the water. Without the lift the cottagers have no real access to their waterfront.
At the end of the first full day building Lift 83. We had a great day.
We finished Lift 81 yesterday and are starting Lift 82. After two really difficult and challenging builds we're looking forward to a simpler, more straightforward build with this next lift.
Lift 81 is coming along nicely.
We finished our first build of the season last Wednesday. It's actually our second steepest lift to date, only Lift 15 is steeper, and one of our toughest builds to date. And really spectacular. The upper and lower station platforms are yet to be built. The upper one is essential to connect the car to the path, but the lower station will just need a simple step. We start Lift 81, which will be around 80 feet long and 70 degrees, our steepest by far, in Parry Sound on Tuesday.
Another spectacular Inclined Elevation lift is under construction.
The car is on and Wyatt's pretty happy about it. There are lots of boats stopping to look at the new lift going in, the first on this lake. Apparently we are known as the crazy crew from Ontario and they call the lift the Stairway to Heaven. We're one good day's work away from finishing but it's raining. Rain, rain, go away.
We took on a challenge building this 56 60 plus foot long lift on a smooth slate face. Cody and Wyatt built a great piece of track while belaying on ropes. Tomorrow we fit the dolly, complete the track, and install the winch.
