The smile behind the mask Welcome back to another installment of #meettheteammonday , we loved seeing all the positive responses from last weeks post! We really are so lucky to do what we do. This week, our feature smile belongs to, ... Patricia - Family Physician WE ASKED: 1 What is your greatest passion in life? Learning, growing and being of service to my community. 2 Why do you love being a midwife? It gives me the opportunity to connect with others where I can share what I have learned to date and learn from others. 3 What is something important you were reminded of this year? Something new I have learned this year is humanity's capacity for collective growth when we work together to face new challenges. 4 What is something I am looking forward to? For now I am just trying hard to enjoy the blessings in the here and now. But when that doesn't work I look forward to the next chance I will have to be outside playing with my family. The countdown to Christmas is ON, (how is it already 10 days until Christmas Eve!?) See you next week friends! . . . . . . . . #meettheteammonday #midwives #portmoody #inletcommunitybirthprogram #bcmidwives #behindthemask

The smile behind the mask 2020 is almost over friends, we're almost there! Despite all of the uncertainty we've experienced this year, some things have stayed consistent - the fearless women we care for that continue to bring beautiful life into the world, and our incredible staff!... Each Monday continuing into the new year, we will be re-introducing those incredible staff members to you. Dina - Midwife WE ASKED: 1 What is your greatest passion in life? Seizing and savouring each moment, particularly those with my family. 2 Why do you love being a midwife? Making a difference feels so good. And also, women are STRONG and babies are danged cute! 3 What is something important you were reminded of this year? The power of the energy we bring to any situation, and how being positive and open makes even the most difficult times more bearable. 4 What is something I am looking forward to? Welcoming partners and kids back to the clinic. And giving lots of real hugs. Stay safe friends, see you next week! . . . . . . . . #meettheteammonday #midwives #portmoody #inletcommunitybirthprogram #bcmidwives #behindthemask

Welcome to our stormy, resilient October and November babies! #inletbirth #inletbirthbabyboard #somanybabies #bcmidwives #collaborativecare
We so often hold ourselves to impossible expectations, and are way harder on ourselves than we are with anyone else. And it comes from a place of always wanting... to do our best and be our best, especially when it comes to our children. But they don't need us to be perfect! We are only human after all. If you notice yourself beating yourself up about something today, ask yourself if you would treat your best friend the same way you are treating yourself. You deserve the same love and compassion that you give to others #mentalhealth #perinatalmentalhealth #postpartum #parenting #pmad #parenthood #selfcompassion #depression #anxiety #ppd #ppa Posted @withregram @psychedmommy Do you ever find yourself offering grace and compassion to others, but being critical of yourself? It’s important to understand where and how this narrative developed. It’s also important to unlearn these scripts and develop language that is loving and compassionate to both ourselves and others. Self-kindness can have a significant impact on your mood (and your physiology!).

We get to meet the cutest family members while providing home visits after new babies are born!
I firmly believe that we are always doing the best we can with the resources we have at the time. No exceptions. It's ok to not always be functioning at 100%. Y...ou still have worth and value. It doesn't mean you are bad or failing, it isn't because you are a terrible person or an awful parent. It means you are under resourced, and that you deserve more support. Know someone who's struggling with thinking they're a "bad" parent? Tap them on the shoulder with this gentle reminder ....
This is where we're at today, folks. Please consider keeping yourself (and new babies) indoors as much as possible. If you must go out, a mask is a good idea. #inletbirth #smokyskies
