Overdosing is more common when you're alone. Know someone who uses drugs? Check in on them. You could save a life. With social distancing measures in place due ...to COVID-19, more people are using substances alone at home. People who use drugs alone are at higher risk of overdosing. Here are some tips to stay safer: Most overdoses are happening in people’s homes. If you think someone you care about is using substances, reach out to them. You could save a life. If you are going to use drugs, use with a buddy or at an overdose prevention site. If you choose to use alone, get someone to look in on you and call for help if needed. Carry naloxone and get training on how to use it so you can be prepared if an overdose happens. Download the free Lifeguard app: https://lifeguarddh.com/. Introducing Sun Ray Retreat! A great big thank you to Rodney Lambert for hosting our visits out to his gathering place where we enjoyed smudging, gathering, and drumming; not to mention some great out of doors! INS has gifted Rodney this sign to hang at his gathering place. He welcomes visitors during the summer and we highly recommend the experience with nature! Oscar Dumais is the artist (pictured on the left; Rodney is on the right)! Beautiful work Oscar. If any one would like information on Rodney's cultural experience contact Laurie at the INS office.

Good Samaritan Boxes all ready to go! Our agency contributed 55 boxes to this campaign through acts of kindness and generosity! Thank you everyone who donated boxes and helped make this happen! Merry Christmas!

Sobriety, addiction, and stress are difficult. The relapse and overdose rate has increased by 30% since March 2020. Mental health issues related to our lockdown and the pandemic are especially hard for people with anxiety and/or depression. Crisis service Canada has a 24 hour helpline: 833-456-4566.
