WHEN IS IT TIME TO REPLACE A CPAP MASK? There are several ways to tell if your mask needs to be replaced. It will begin to discolour due to oxygen breaking down the material (just like rust) and/or it will become more shiny or oily in appearance. Most users experience increased leaking even with tightening or adjusting, and the seals do not hold their shape as they once did. The manufacturers recommend replacing your mask every 6 months - 1 year but this can vary from user to user depending on the type of mask, cleaning schedule, and individual user factors like skin type, facial hair, and even pH. Washing your face before bedtime and regular equipment cleanings with a mild dish soap is the best method to prolong the life of your CPAP supplies.
