Recently Teami, a "detox tea" company, was ordered to pay over $15 million by the Federal Trade Commission for sponsored influencer posts that didn't disclose their relationship with the company. A major factor for this decision was their social media compliance policy being too vague. To avoid legal trouble, companies should have a policy requiring visible disclosure of sponsored content and should monitor every post to ensure compliance by external vendors.
