Ironwood Sword School

With the local return to a green status both the Kingston and Stirling German Longsword classes are resuming. And, we are also taking on new students at this time. So, if you are interested in HEMA now is a good time to come out and give it a try. No experience is necessary and we have all the equipment needed to get you started. The cost is $15 per class. The Stirling class is Thursday 6:30-8:30pm at the Lions Hall upstairs at the Stirling arena, 435 W. Front St. The Kingston class is Sunday 1-3pm at the Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church, 3876 Harrowsmith Rd.

I have just confirmed that we will be accepting a small intake of new beginners into the Stirling German longsword class on Thursday, Nov. 26th. The class runs from 6:30-8:30 in the Lion's Hall which is located upstairs at the Stirling Arena located at 435 West Front Street, Stirling, ON, K0K 3E0. Good news. I have confirmed the use of the indoor hall for this coming Sunday to start up the Kingston longsword class again after the holiday hiatus. The hall is at the Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church, 3876 Harrowsmith Rd. about 1/2 a klick E. of 38 on the N. side of the road. The class runs from 1-3pm and someone will be there at 12:45pm to let people in. Old and new students are welcome to join us for this class. I am really looking forward to getting back into swinging swords and sticking people with the pointy end after some much needed downtime. Bring a pair of flat-soled indoor shoes because the room is carpeted. See y'all soon brigands.

Hey Y'all, I am at the point where I need to source some cushion mats for doing more serious wrestling and dagger work. After a quick look online it seems like new mats are really expensive. If anyone knows of someone who might have some used mats they would be willing to part with, or if you know of a place to get new ones cheaply please let me know. Thanks.

Ok, it is time to restart the Sunday afternoon sword-fighting class after a much needed hiatus over Christmas and its aftermath at work. So, the class will resume starting next Sunday, February 2nd at 1pm. I am looking at a possible indoor space tomorrow for us to be able to play in for the rest of the winter but we will have a class next week regardless. I'll post ASAP if it will be at the Dirty Dog Farm like before or somewhere else. I look forward to getting going again after some much needed rest and downtime. I am pretty recharged for diving back into all things HEMA and also look forward to seeing the Kingston area HEMA gang again.

Ironwood Sword School is offering our next eight-week New Beginner’s Introduction to German Longsword course starting January 9th, 2020. The class runs Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Lions Hall upstairs at the Stirling-Rawdon Arena located at 435 West Front Street, Stirling, ON, K0K 3E0. The course costs $120 with all equipment provided. No experience is necessary and anyone can learn to swordfight regardless of fitness level or ability. Swordfighting is also a great and fun way to get into better shape if you are making a New Year's resolution along those lines.

A reminder that starting today the Sunday swordfighting class for Kingston will be held at the Dirty Dog Farm (my place) at 205 Cowdy Road, Enterprise. If you would like to come please let me know in advance.
