TW: Sexual Assualt Prevention April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. We love our community and want to work together to bring awareness to how we can promote Community-Level Prevention Online! This can be done in any online space! Some ways that community members can create safer spaces and promote prevention:... 1. Create community agreements with your participants the expectations around respectful communications are clear to everyone involved. Rather than issuing a zero-tolerance policy around sexual harassment, name specific behaviours that will not be tolerated and how those who do harm will be asked to take accountability. 2. Provide a way that victims can make a report about harassment or abuse if another group member’s behaviour is making them uncomfortable. 3. Establish community norms around appropriate ways for group members to communicate with one another. For instance, this might mean identifying which hours of the day that group members should contact one another, on what apps or platforms, etc. 4. Keep participants safe by making sure the platforms you use are secure.

We all must fight against the unnecessary and unethical barriers placed on trans women and girls by lawmakers and those who co-opt the feminist label in the nam...e of division and hatred. So far this year, state and federal lawmakers have introduced more than 100 state bills to restrict the rights of trans women, people, and youth, most notably in terms of education, healthcare, and sports. Further, at least eleven murders of mostly Black and Latinx transgender people have been reported in these first months of 2021, continuing a trend of violence that made last year the deadliest one on record. Creating a safe and just world doesn’t begin and end with a post on social media or signing a letter. We have to actively participate in dismantling colonial, white supremacist notions of gender, relationship, wealth and everything else. Signing a letter is an empty gesture unless the rest of our lives is putting that sentiment into action. Please go to my stories to learn how to take action to protect the rights of trans children today. #TDOV http://glaad.org/tdovletter See more

Incredibly powerful video from Sunrise NYC featuring words from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. One week away from the election -- many of us are feeli...ng scared. Scared about the next couple years and if we will have a job, healthcare, or autonomy over our own bodies. But these moments aren't about ignoring your fear. It's about turning that fear into the fuel propelling us forward. Be courageous with us: https://www.sunrisemovement.org/victoryfest/
