The Guelph Pipe Band proudly wears the McCrae tartan in honour of Colonel John McCrae, author of In Flanders fields and native of Guelph, Ontario. Even though i...t is a civilian band it has a deep connection to canada's military. The Guelph Pipeband was formed in 1922 and during the Second World War, Many of the bands members served in the Highland Light Infantry along with one of the band's original members, Pipe Major Art Corstorphine. When Canadian pipe bands marched into Berlin in 1945, Corstorphine was the leading pipe major.
