Our hourly Jam rooms will be back open under strict guidelines as of Monday June 15th. Hand sanitizer is provided, face masks are mandatory, and mics will be swapped out between bookings. We recommend you bring your own vocal mic if possible. Time to Make some noise! #JamSpots #RehearsalHall #Guelph ~ DM or call to book. (If you’re looking for a Monthy room to call home, we have a few rooms available) Here is the deets in a list... -Masks are mandatory -hand sanitizer is p...rovided -rooms and handles are being cleaned daily and between sessions. -guests are asks to wipe and gear they use before and after they are done... like gym equipment (cleaner provided) -we are asking for you to bring your own vocal mics, but if you need one, you need to let us know. Once used, they will get deposited in a box for cleaning -payment by e-transfer Finally, guests need to be free from any COVID like symptoms... there is a short questionnaire: If you answer yes to any of these questions or if the status of any answer changes between now and the time of the booking please do not come to JamSpots. A YES answer to any of these questions means you should take the self-assessment test online and likely self-isolate for 14 days or check in with your family doctor or Telehealth just to be safe. Here are the screening questions: 1. Do you have fever, new onset of cough, worsening chronic cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing? 2. :REPOST: Update for anyone following the shift of live shows & events to the virtual platform: It goes without saying that over the last few months everyone has had to make huge pivots, not only in how they go about their day to day lives but also how they operate their businesses.... As far as events & shows go, the virtual platform was the route to take. But the implications and implementation of how and where it would all work meant a lot of time, effort, energy & equipment to put it all together. Not to mention finding creative ways to keep any staff, crew or anyone in attendance (for when there could be an audience) distanced & safe. The owners of Onyx stepped up and teamed up with Sound Events Inc. to create just such a space and make it all happen. Now Onyx has the ability to host shows and events of all kinds while adhering to all current safety protocol. Now, amidst these shifts, and for a myriad of reasons that I won't get into here, FB also decided to change how content is streamed on their platform. Long-story-short they've made it completely impossible for any independent to stream any content on their platform as of Oct 1st. Case in point: Over the last few months much of the content posted to the GAIN Media and Onyx Nightclub Guelph FB pages has been censored, muted or does not even appear in followers newsfeed thereby resulting in lower page visits, views and overall engagement. But it's all about the pivot! See, FB thinks that we're here to chase their numbers and get page hits and views. Sure, those are all great, but here's the thing, that's not what we're here for. We're here to engage with our community and talk to those who are working behind the scenes helping those in need. We're here to have open, intelligent conversations with those who are working hard at their craft and are setting themselves apart. We're here to showcase local bands, musicians and artists in a time when the arts need to continue to shine through. We're here to back the community that we're a part of and create new platforms and opportunities in these uncertain times. It's because of these reasons and more that going forward we will not be relying on FB for streaming, nor will we be concerning ourselves with their numbers. If you'd like to follow along on this journey and catch all the shows, bands, chats and more hit up the Onyx website - www.onyxnightclubguelph.com, or their Twitch or Vimeo pages!
