I have found myself reflecting on the accomplishments I have made in my career over the last few years, and I wanted to give you a peek inside my hair design journey: .... [ February 2008 ] I began hair school and made good grades, but honestly felt I lacked in practical skills. I spent a year an a half as a receptionist learning the in's and out's of how a salon runs and operates. For a few years after that I bounced around from a few salons and even took a brief break from hairdressing before "settling" down at a walk-in, haircut-only shop. I sharpened (pun intended) my cutting skills there and grew a loyal clientele [ 2015 ] After missing doing colour services and being able to book appointments for my request clients I chose to return to a past corporate salon chain. [ 2016 ] I was offered a management position if I transfered to one of their other locations. I weighed out the risk vs. reward of moving my clientele yet again within one yeara and decided it was a good opportunity. Fast forward I managed a successful salon for over 3 years before I became weary of corporate structure as well as being in charge of other stylists while accommodating a full clientele. [January 2019 ] I made the decision to search for a chair rental where I would be able to run my own business and be in absolute control over the products I use and my schedule. [ March 2019 ] I started renting a chair at Salon 77 and was able to create a positive + personable environment for my clients and myself. I've been self employed for almost a year and a half and I am so incredibly happy with the path I've chosen.
