Julie Hamilton, the owner of Jarzies, ran a third-party fundraiser in the months leading up to Christmas. She purchased a consignment of gift wrapping paper and... offered these items for clients to help themselves and make a donation to Food4Kids Guelph, if they wished. This wonderful gesture from a small business owner who has struggled from COVID closures raised $940 for our program. Students are back to school next week. I genuinely hope that we are able to open our doors and welcome you back next week. Ford to advise Monday. We will reopen the first day that we can.

Here is a picture of my last 5 bays with my last 10 customers of 2020. As we enter lockdown here is my one political statement to address this situation. JARZIES has had ZERO cases tied back to it. We are naturally socially distanced with walls between our customers. Our cleaning is intense, documented and approved by Guelph Public Health.... We waived ALL late cancelations due to someone having the sniffles this year. We hired 3 students specifically to keep the place sanitized. We spent more, we worked harder than ever before and yet we will now lose 1 of 4 of our profit months. And we pray it’s ONLY 1 of 4 months. I approve of restrictions to keep people safe. I approve of alcohol being cut off early so distance is maintained. I agree if we were a threat, to close us but look at the picture... My customers and staff have kept this place going via their presence and their ability to follow the rules once taught and consistently followed up on. Taking this away from them, the jobs from my staff (including a young parent), and from myself is arbitrary, not based on quantifiable data and quite honestly criminal. I don’t know the answer.....but crushing small business ain’t it.

I need to give a shout out to my customers as we transitioned to red. My leagues are all 2 per bay now, max 10 in the facility. We are doing a full flip every 1.5 hours. People are orderly, people are just happy to play. AND people are following the rules to minimize risk and stay safe. While this room is generally bursting at the seams we can survive in red. Thank you, thank you and thank you some more to those that support JARZIES. My family business appreciates you more than you know.

Guelph is moving to the red stage in Monday. I would like to thank our members, regulars and new customers for working with us as we adjust our protocols to keep us compliant and safe. JARZIES has 5 bays and we are now only taking reservations for 2 per bay totalling 10 for the entire facility. To stay legally compliant and yet still survive as a business we will be operating with the following parameters. 1- Please do not enter the facility unless you have a tee time. 2- ...Please enter at the time of your tee time and not before. A 3 pm tee time means enter at 3 pm, not 2:45 pm as is our norm. 3- When you are 15 minutes from the end of your time, please pay your bill. 4- Each booth should pack up and be ready to exit 5 minutes to the hour. 5- We will not be running 1/2 hour appointments for the balance of the season. 6- We have a strict 24 hour cancelation policy. If you cancel or no show for your time we HAVE to charge you. Note: we will work with you by opening up the time and trying to sell it. If we can sell it then we will, if we can't then we need to bill you. We are operating at under 50% of our capacity due to covid, we cannot absorb no shows. 7- Unfortunately due to our capacity restrictions, you cannot stay and drink after your round. As requested by many of our customers ..... we have picked up a stack of gift cards from Cusina Mediterranean Bistro from the South end. Our first winner was Steve P. Today who shot a 1.5 feet away from a closest to the pin at Harbour Town. Mmmmmmm.... enjoy the souvlaki Steve. It's awesome. 2 more winners later today. We are ramping up our hours. Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-2 Wednesdays and Saturdays 12-8... Full hours start Wed October 14th. Until we get to full hours, all membership levels are welcome to play on our Saturday slots.

Our biggest tournament if the year (generally held in April) is bring held this weekend. Free to play cause you have to win your way in. 28 of our best teams are returning to fight it out for a free membership and other great local small business prizes. Last year's winners are here to set the bar as they are not eligible to win. This year our teams will come in via teams of 2 to promote social distancing so we can stay open all year. Matt and Fred scored a 54 just now but they are show offs so don't mind them. Different weekend. But different can be good too.

It's hard to believe but JARZIE'S has been in business for 10 years! Opening during the warmest and shortest Winter on record since 1977, that first year was touch and go. Throughout the years we celebrated numerous birthdays, corporate functions and Christmas events of all sorts. We've now also held 2 baby showers, 10+ diaper parties (for Daddy to be) and a Canadian citizenship celebration for one of our members. Our customers are more than customers but a wonderful grou...p of people that gave become friends. In fact one of the things that makes this place great is the ability for people of all ages and backgrounds to get together, bond and become outdoor golfing buddies. We've held wildly successful outdoor tournaments for the last 5 years where 180 spots sell out each Feb in approximately 3 days. This year we also ran our first outdoor league at Guelph Country Club. We have raised and matched money for charity. We support many local schools and charities and personal events via golfing packages. We have the best staff around. We hire based on their love of the game. If you want to talk clubs, swing analytics, or what happened on the pro tour, these guys know their stuff. They have also been dependable, honest and hardworking st all levels. I consider us lucky to have them and those that have been with me through this 10 year journey. It was my goal when I left my previous professional life to create a environment where I wanted to go everyday. To be happy and surround myself with likeminded people on a daily basis. The 100+ hour work weeks in the early years was 100% worth it as we have build a community that I am beyond proud of. Due to COVID, we will not be holding a true party to celebrate this year. Instead I am communicating with members of years past and present to invite them in Nov7/8. While not everyone that started with me has made it through the full 10 years, all of these people are important as they got us to here and I appreciate them. We will have a true celebration in a Fall 2021 to raise a glass to the end of COVID and our 11th year.

You can tell the season is changing and twilight rounds are more in the dark than daylight. More and more regulars are filtering back in. We’re seeing a new customer base forming already as the Florida bound seniors are looking for a way to spend a season at home with closed borders. Much of my time now is spent explaining the COVID format that has been designed to keep customers and staff safe. We are currently looking for 3 senior gentlemen to fill our Wednesday 11am Le...ague. The existing group that has been running for 10 years has been split into 2 leagues to have less people in the facility at a time. Cost is $20 to play tax in. Weekly prize as well.
