What a fabulous evening of classic jazz tunes was had on Thursday! Great crowd, great musicians and great tunes! Thanks to all the musicians who participated! Here are some shots of the band members.

This is a very interesting and informative animated TEDTalk video about how playing music affects and enhances brain function. As a participant and also a parent of a high school music student I can tell you music and the learning to play an instrument, should be an essential part of any public education program. PE is exercise for the body, music is exercise for the brain. I've also read that as we age, learning to play an instrument is a great way to keep the mind sharp and the fine motor skills tuned. Plus, it always takes you to your Happy Place!
