A year ago today, our team at NB Southern Railway was hard at work decorating its award-winning float for the #Lancaster and #SaintJohn Santa Claus Parades! While we won't see it on the parade route this year, we can't wait to work with friends at the Children's Wish/Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada, New Brunswick on next year's entry! #TBT
Since the beginning of #COVID19, our cleaning professionals have played an integral part to ensuring our businesses are able to remain open and our employees stay safe. We had the opportunity to meet Bev Losier (pictured) while visiting one of our operations in Chipman, New Brunswick, and wanted to extend a big thank you to her and everyone who play such an important role behind the scenes!

Its what they train for year after year, and hope they never have to put the skills to work. 2020 proved a big test. Together with teams from DNR and surrounding communities, the Irving Woodlands firefighting teams faced one of the most challenging seasons in 40 year. They kept one another and their communities safe amidst fires that burned thousands of hectares this summer. Recently, the Woodlands team - pilots, engineers, ground crews, cooks, supervisors and foresters -... came together to trade stories and share a meal to celebrate a safe ending to the 2020 fire season. "To say the 2020 fire season was busy would be an understatement. There were many long days and nights through the summer and everyone came together to get the job done without hesitation or any complaints. It makes you feel proud. Thank you to the entire team!" said Brad Abernethy, Silviculture Operations Manager, Irving Woodlands.
The woods in our lives - renewable and carbon capturing also make for a stunning new Art Gallery of Nova Scotia!
We are proud to support health care in our communities!
Its about more than just trees for foresters like John Williamson who grew up around the woods of Northern New Brunswick. John's love of the forests led to a career as a Planning Forester looking after water, wildlife and forests. Rural New Brunswick is home and keeping our forests and rural communities healthy and productive is important to me. I'm proud to be part of what sustains this great way of life." says John. John attended Saint Mary's University Halifax, rece...iving his degree in biology before attending the University of New Brunswick where he graduated with his Forestry and Environmental Management degree. John says, As a Forester and a New Brunswicker, the big reward is feeling really proud and lucky to be able to get up every morning, tie up my boots, and go to work with a team that is committed to managing our forest resources for today and generations to come. It’s also pretty great knowing my family is proud of the work I do and understand why its so important. #Forestry #WoodsInYourLife #OurPeople
Thank you to all the volunteers who came together to make this special event happen. And thank you to everyone for their generous donations ensuring children in Saint John and the surrounding area have a joyful holiday season!
The woods in our lives provide for many everyday products. We're growing more wood than we harvest every year and are using 100% of every tree. Here is a break down! #WoodsInYourLife #NoWaste
This week we are celebrating by counting down Maclean's 2021 Best Universities in Canada with the help of one of our 202 SMU graduates! Moving from 6th to 4th in the country, Saint Mary's University Halifax provides the opportunity to interact and work with so many people, with varying backgrounds and skills, says Hazem Al-Nasleh. "To me, the most valuable thing I learned is communicating with others. Learning how to interact with different people, and co-operate with others while keeping an open mind, I feel has prepared me for my role today. " #KeepThemHome
Thirteen families from Brazil are now reunited with husbands and fathers who made the journey back in 2019 for a new future in New Brunswick! Juniper, New Brunswick - population 400 - is home to the Juniper Community Centre, the heart of amazing community spirit, driven by dedicated volunteers. Nestled in the woods along the headwaters of the Miramichi River, the centre is the welcoming gathering place for citizens and visitors. For generations, Juniper has been sustained by the woods that surround it. It is also where future forests begin as growing tree seedlings has been a tradition here since the 1960's. Ju...niper is home to many on the the Irving Woodlands team who know first hand what the Community Centre means to the village. We're pleased to support it in any way we can!
