One of the Holocaust survivors to visit Saint John and share her story was Faigie Libman - the message of her talk is one of positivity and strength against adversity. Listening to this interview recorded as part of Toronto's Holocaust Education Week is an hour very well spent. https://virtualjcc.com//conversation-with-holocaust-surviv

This was Wiezel's store some time between 1920 and 1920. They had three locations over time - the corner of Charlotte and Union, on Union near Prince Edward Street and finally on King Street. I know there are many memories of this business - can't wait to read them!

After the Second World War, Bernie Bloom opened Berny's - a clothing store on Main Street. After the store was destroyed by fire in the early 1970s, Bernie went to work at the Ideal Store. One of the favourite museum exhibits looks at the Jewish business that once flourished in Saint John. As we get ready to transition this exbibit into a virtual format you can be a part of that process by commenting on the photos in this album and sharing your recollections of the Jewish stores.

This is another post in the series of War Veterans post created and shared by Harold Wright and Bernard Cormier - the Meltzer family had as many as five of their children in uniform - William, Edward, Gar, Lillian and Murray, who as the youngest was still in army cadets.
