Here’s a little article on the plight of Massage Therapists in Alberta. Thanks to all who have signed the petition. Throughout the last year massage therapy went through a rollercoaster of closures and openings. Each time we faced closure, my heart dropped for the clients that rely on massage for migraines, the ones who suffer from lower back pain or those who have challenges with vertigo, to name a few. The way we experience life changes when we have pain and discomfort holding us back. Currently, massage therapy is not regulated within the province of Alberta meaning that we are not con...sidered as healthcare providers. During our last reopening we were only allowed to see clients if they had a referral/prescription. This further hindered clients from getting the help that they needed. Over the years massage therapy has changed immensely, evolving from a 1000hr program to a 2200hr program (2 years). Our schooling includes learning anatomy, physiology, pathology and exercise rehabilitation, to name a few. In addition we are required to pursue continuing education credits to keep our practices up to date. While massages can be relaxing I feel like the scope has changed over the years. Please help my profession by signing and sharing this petition. Thanks so much.

Not everything that limits shoulder motion is necessarily in the shoulder. We have long fascial continuities throughout the body sometimes called myofascial mer...idians. One, the spiral line, ties the opposite hip and abs into the shoulder. Restrictions anywhere along this line can impact shoulder stability and mobility. Hello All, Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and ready for Christmas. As announced yesterday, Massage Therapy Services will be opening up again shortly with a referral from other regulated health care professionals listed in the link below. Some such health care professionals include: Acupuncturists, Naturopaths, Physicians, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists. Guidelines for massage:... 1. An existing referral/prescription is valid if issued in the last 12 months 2. A copy of the original prescription/referral is acceptable. 3. Written prescription/referral must be provided prior to receiving treatment. 4. Hello friends and clients. Would you please take the time to sign this petition. Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathic Therapy services have been suspended due to the recent COVID restrictions. This is in part due to the fact that Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathic Therapy are not regulated within the province of Alberta. Currently there are 5 provinces in which massage therapy is regulated, ON, BC, PEI, NB and NFLD, with SK close to regulation. At this time all regulated Healthcare professions are allowed to continue practicing, this includes acupuncture, chiropractic and physio therapy. Regulation has been talked about for over 20 years in Alberta, let’s push this through!! Please Share

Due to the recent restrictions announced from the Alberta Provincial Goverment, Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathic Therapy practices will close as of 12:01am Sunday, December 13, 2020. These measures will be in effect for 4 weeks with the possibity of extension. Please know that Ripple Effect Wellness Center will still be open for acupuncture and naturopath appointments for your continued care.
