EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT The University of Ottawa’s Model United Nations Association and St. Thomas University’s JPHMUN have partnered this year to mutually benefit our respective conferences. Capital MUN - Simulation capitale de l’ONU... CAPMUN is looking for both High School and University students, both French and English, to participate in their conference this spring. They have passed on the following information for us to share with all of you. Their website is also linked below. Take a look at the information and consider this fantastic opportunity! ............. (Le français suit) Make your March memorable by participating in a Model UN conference! CAPMUN is the largest bilingual model UN conference in Canada and is annually held in Ottawa. Due to health guidelines CAPMUN 2021 will be held virtually. This year delegates will have the opportunity to hear from Ambassadors, MP’s, and policymakers. The theme of CAPMUN 2021 Reconstruction of Our Current World will allow for debate, problem-solving, and diplomacy as delegates participate in our eight innovative committees. The CAPMUN secretariat plans to recreate the experiences of an in-person CAPMUN conference safely in a virtual environment by offering training sessions, a panel discussion with Members of Parliament, workshops, a social event, by mailing awards to the winners, and more. CAPMUN 2021 will be taking place virtually from March 26-28, 2021. Hello Delegates! Last week we contacted your teachers to announce that St. Thomas University has decided to cancel the John Peters Humphrey Model United Nations for 2020. The decision is due to the on-going situation around COVID-19 and overall direction from Public Health of the Government of New Brunswick on public gatherings, as well as the fact that St. Thomas has cancelled all in-person classes. Added to this is the lead time required to organize and make decisions reg...arding the event. Given these factors, we believe it is prudent to cancel this event for 2020. We know that this will be a disappointment, This decision is enormously disappointing to those of us who have been working on the JPHMUN and were looking forward to welcoming you to STU in May.
