We have a winner of our 50/50 draw! Collecting $3,610 (half the jackpot) is Naomi Kawamura of Richmond. Naomi is also the older sister of Athlete and Coach Kezia, shown with Naomi accepting the cheque. Naomi is currently home from her schooling abroad and will be putting the money to good use to further her schooling and career. Thank you to all who entered the draw! As our traditional sources of club funding, including our Steveston Icebreaker 8k race and our BC Elementary School Championship track meet were cancelled this past year (and next), fundraising has become a critical element in keeping the club running. Although we have been outdoors more this winter, training programs have continued to run successfully due in no small part to your support. Again many thanks from all of our Kajaks family!

Anne was our first Olympian representing Canada at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexcio City in the 400m where she set a new canadian record of 54.3s. High Jumper @emkimm Hammer Thrower @rowwwan.hamilton and Honourary lifetime #KajaksFam member @evandunfee were all crowned National Champions in the Women’s High Jump (1.79m), Men’s U20 Hammer (66.43m) and Men’s 20K Race Walk (1:24:22) respectively.
