Back to school can be a little tough on our furry family! Here are a couple tips to help your pet prepare for back to school: Leave your pet home alone for short periods of time if he/she is not already used to being left alone Leave back packs and bags out to help them prepare for new items in the house Slowly switch to new routines for feeding, walking and quite times Engage and spend quality time with your pet after being left alone for long periods of time, kids can help teach new tricks to keep your pet learning too!

Does your pet get worried over stormy weather? Try these quick tricks: Provide a safe, dark area of the house for your pet to hide in Play music on low for a constant noise distraction Thundershirt or similar snug fitting clothing may help your pet feel more secure Over the counter medications like Zylkene, Biocalm, or pheromones may help relieve some anxiety... Work on desensitization to stormy weather noises during non storm season If your pet is really frightened, and these tips aren't quite enough, please call in as there may be more we can do to help support and keep your pet feeling more at ease during a storm See more

With COVID 19, what about our pets? Here is a great link for some guidance on our four legged babies! At Central Animal Hospital, we are taking all precautions just in case this virus can survive on their fur, to help prevent the spread from one pet to the next to their owner!
At Central Animal Hospital, the ongoing health and safety of our clients, their pets, and the dedicated team members that serve the community, is our top priority. We are committed to maintaining a clean and sanitary environment and adhere to a strict standard of protocols to achieve this. As you have heard, the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is occuring in Canada with cases reported in several provinces. To keep up-to-date, we are following guidelines for best practices fr...om local, national and international health authorities. In light of recent news, we will be taking additional measures to ensure that our veterinary clinic is cleaned and sanitized more frequently, particularly in the client-facing areas like reception and waiting areas. We are confident that continued vigilance will help keep our work environment safe, and all those who are in it healthy. Please help us by using hand sanitizer available in the reception area. If you have concerns about visiting our hospital or waiting with your pet, please call ahead to discuss options such as pet drop-off. In addition, we ask that if you are feeling any symptoms such as a cough, fever, or difficulty breathing, please call our veterinary clinic so that we can reschedule your appointment or discuss alternate arrangements to ensure that your pet receives the care it needs. Note that currently there is limited evidence that pets can be infected with the virus, and no evidence that they can be a source of infection to other animals or to humans. We encourage you to speak to one of our veterinarians or technicians if you have questions or need more clarification. For up-to-date guidance on companion animals and the Coronavirus, please refer to the World Small Animal Veterinary Association website: https://wsava.org/ We will continue to provide updates as more information and guidelines become available. Sincerely, Your dedicated team at Central Animal Hospital See more

Happy family day! Let's see your furry family post a recent picture in comments
Enjoy the snow! But remember...ticks are still hungry and coming out for feedings! Don't forget to pick up your tick protection for your furry friends so you can rest easy knowing that while they are playing in the snow, they will come inside alone!
Well, the snow is abating and the sunshine is starting to come out.... unfortunately the warmer days also bring out the ticks! Not to worry though! We have stocked up early on tick prevention for your pet! Please call in and we will happily set some aside for your 4 legged friend! One tasty chewable tablet each month will help prevent tick borne diseases and paralysis...not to mention the creepy crawlers hiding in your home after catching a ride in!
Thank you again for all your support on our Annual Nail Trim by Donation. It was fantastic to see the excitement from the volunteers at the Kamloops Food Bank when they received the 209 pounds of food raised this year!
