VISUALIZATION FOR BIRTH PREPARATION One of my favourite childbirth preparation techniques is using guided meditation and visualizations. Using visualizations brings positive energy into your mind, body and spirit. Mindfulness exercises are healthy and accessible ways to expand your view on your capacity to birth your baby. Guided meditation and visualization also help to lessen the stress in the body, promote relaxation and can increase feelings of safety. For thes...e reasons, using visualizations during childbirth can be an effective comfort measure, especially when we have a developed a regular practice together in your pregnancy. If you are looking to add a knowledgeable holistic caregiver to your birth team, get in touch with me soon. I am fully booked for birth support in 2020, however I have availability starting February 2021. DO YOU LISTEN TO YOUR HEART? Yesterday I had a gift of a small space of time between prenatal reiki sessions. I was on my way to my second session and suddenly felt my heart leap I am early (rare!) and I am soooo close to the woods! So I pulled over and I went into the forest. I smelled the fresh wet moss. I looked up and saw the breeze move branches. I heard the crunch of a stick underfoot and the sweet sound of birds chirping overhead. ... This profound act of allowing myself to be enveloped in the moment filled me up. I listened to my heart’s call. I didn’t tell myself, it’s not worth it. I didn’t tell myself, I don’t have time or that perhaps I should send that email. I simply followed my desire. And oh, how I love following my joy! While it may take intentional actions to weave pleasure into our days it is also our birthright. Pleasure seeking is in our nature. And for me, it is often in nature where I find the opportunity for instant pleasure. How do feel when you follow your heart? Can you allow something to happen just for you right now? ~ #birthkeeper #holisticdoulacare #homebirth #sacredbirth #reikhealing #prenatalyoga #wombhealing #innerchild #followyourheart #birthwitness #lightworker #doulamama #motherhoodrising #healingguide #holisticreproductivepractitioner See more

OUR HOME ON NATIVE LAND I have felt conflicted about celebrating Canada Day for many years. I really love living in Canada and yet can we celebrate a country founded on genocide of thousands of Indigenous people? Can we celebrate living on stolen land? Can we celebrate a country that continues to marginalize Indigenous people? Can we celebrate a country that doesn’t protect Indigenous people? For the past several years, while being fully aware of the horrific history... and current wrongs of our country, I still chose to focus on the beauty of the country’s natural landscapes, our multicultural diversity, and the freedoms I get to enjoy. My education and internal conflict didn’t stop me from dressing my kids in red and white, watching the fireworks and waving little Canadian flags at parades. That stops this year. Not because of the pandemic, but because I need to speak up. I need to use my voice. Today I will be giving tribute to the unceded ancestral land of the Coast Salish peoples, including the traditional territories of the xmkwým (Musqueam), Skwxwu7mesh (Squamish), Stó:l and Slilwta/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. These are the lands in which I was born and where I continue to love, live, play and work. Forever indebted.
