Getting together with family and friends to enjoy our ice cream means everyone gets to be a part of it. But as so many of you know, that’s not always easy, because lots of people can’t enjoy traditional ice cream, for a number of reasons. We’ve been listening to you and trying to figure out the best way to ensure that everyone can enjoy a trip to one of our stores or the many other great places that serve our ice cream. So it brings us great pleasure to tell you about 6 amazi...ng new choices that will make getting together to enjoy Kawartha Dairy something EVERYONE can be a part of! Lactose Free ice cream available in chocolate and vanilla, it’s made in a special way that means it has all the premium creamy goodness of our regular ice cream, but without the lactose. Reduced Sugar ice cream with 67% less sugar than our regular ice cream, we think it will hit all the right notes for those looking for a less sugar choice. Available in chocolate. Sorbet light, refreshing and made without dairy, our sorbets are the perfect option for those looking for an alternative to traditional ice cream. Three great flavours to enjoy Ripe Raspberry, Juicy Orange and Iced Coffee. All of these flavours are available for scooping now, at our 10 Kawartha Dairy stores and other selected shops that offer our products.

So many people have helped us all of us get through the last year here at the dairy, it’s no different. From the hard-working staff in our plant, to those who load our trucks and deliver the milk and ice cream to our customers, to the dedicated team who work in our stores and everyone else, we never would have made it through without them. As part of a special thank you, we worked with Bobcaygeon’s own Douglas + Son to create a one-of-a-kind graphic to put on a hoodie, excl...usively for our staff. Along with historical typography that was found on our trucks and milk bottles, it features one of our iconic cone signs from a couple of generations back. We’re pretty happy with the way it turned out and were so pleased to have been able to do the whole thing with a top-notch partner, right in our own small town. Some thought ice cream inspired beer was a crazy idea, but we thought it sounded crazy good! Our cottage country friends @muskokabrewery have just released their fourth Kawartha Dairy inspired creation, Blue Buried Treasure Pale Ale. Is it good? Oh yeah! Will it be around for long? They never are! It’s landing at LCBO’s and select grocery stores over the next week or so. PRODUCT WITHDRAWAL UPDATE To our loyal customers, I wanted to update you on last week’s product withdrawal affecting two of our ice cream flavours. Kawartha Dairy took this action after we detected the possibility of small metal pieces in the chocolate chips provided by an outside supplier. The metal pieces did not originate from our facility. We are proud of our quality focus and the diligence of our employees in detecting this issue. We immediately contacted the Canadia...n Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) who have now posted a notification on their website. It has also been reported by other media sources. As a reminder, the affected products are: Product Production (PRD) Codes Mint Chip 1.5L PRD 13/10/2020 and 14/10/2020 Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough 1.5L PRD 03/11/2020 and 04/11/2020 No other flavours of ice cream are involved and the withdrawal is limited to the production codes above. The codes can be found on the edge of the container lid. After we discovered this unfortunate issue last week, Kawartha Dairy announced a proactive withdrawal out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our customers. We have not received any consumer complaints or confirmed reports of products containing any metal pieces. We are working with the CFIA and our chocolate chip supplier on this matter. Consumers who purchased this product should not eat it and can return it to where purchased for a full refund. Alternatively, you can contact us at [email protected] for a full refund or if you have any further questions. Like everything else, 2020’s thrown a bit of a wrench into Halloween. But here’s one treat worth checking out - between 4PM and closing time today we’re scooping up HALF PRICE Baby cones for anyone, kids or adults, stopping by one of our Kawartha Dairy stores in costume. Whatever your plans may be, make the most of this very scary Halloween 2020!

If you’ve been hunting for some of our Pumpkin Pie ice cream, your search should soon be over! We’ve just made more - look for it at our own Kawartha Dairy stores and in many of the other great places you normally find our ice cream!

Fall is one of our favourite times of year here at the dairy and there’s no mystery why - we’ve just made more Pumpkin Pie ice cream, which you should be able to find at more stores than ever this year. And on top of that good news after our traditional warm-up Thanksgiving batch, we’ll be back with more fresh egg nog soon, making deliveries to stores by middle of next week. No doubt - this is DEFINITELY one of the best times of the year!

Ontario made means we all win! We're VERY proud that close to 90% of the ingredients we use are purchased from suppliers right here in Ontario, with over 97% of our total ingredients supplied from within Canada. When it comes to milk, most of what we use arrives at the dairy from farms less than 100kms from our factory in Bobcaygeon. We hear you. We really do you’re missing your milkshakes. Back at the start of the COVID-19 crisis, we had to make some tough decisions about how to provide quick, efficient service, while keeping our customers and staff safe, while only being able to serve people through our drive thrus and walk up windows. Dealing with it all has definitely been a learning experience for everyone, on both sides of the counter. Unfortunately, there is nothing quick or premade about making ...our genuine milkshakes, so they weren’t a great fit for the way we suddenly had to do business but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Each one is made fresh to order, with the customer’s choice of ice cream and regular or chocolate milk, individually mixed on one of our authentic milkshake machines. We’re one of the very few places that still makes true old-fashioned style milkshakes and we’d never compromise on what makes them so special. The good news is that we’re working on getting them back into our lineup, hopefully very soon. To be honest, while we knew people would miss them, we really didn’t realize just how much they would.
