Clean water is life
Did you miss the 1:00pm announcement? Thanks to the outcry and pushback from Indigenous Peoples and Albertans, the Government of Alberta will be halting all co...al exploration activities in Category 2 lands effective immediately. Coal exploration is extremely damaging to the environment and can leave lasting scars on the landscape and waterways. Keep raising your voices, keep speaking up for the land and water and say NO to coal! There should be no coal development or exploration permitted in the Eastern Slopes. This is not just a First Nations Issue. The Grassy Mountain Coal Project will cause irreparable damage to the mountains, rivers, and wildlife in the area. The... OldMan River provides essential water to over 260,000 Albertans and is the main water source for the Blood Reserve and Piikani Reserve. Water is the essence of life - help use to ensure that all our children have access to clean drinking water. By filling out the online form with your Name & Postal Code we will send a postcard to Minister Wilkinson on your behalf urging him to reject the Grassy Mountain project. : https://forms.gle/TSE9H8gM5TNwcfUq5
Never give up. No matter what you are going though. Until your last breath. In the lodge, ahkameyimo is the grandfather's favorite word. In life, struggle is in...evitable. We just have to have to find the strength to go through it. This can apply to learning to speak Cree too. They have reminded us in the lodge several times. Learning to speak Cree will help us in the future. Do whatever you need to do. No excuses, just do it. I find that ceremonies is a great place to learn Cree because it's the real Cree. Ceremony and Cree go hand in hand. You need to understand Cree in order to really understand ceremony. Learning to write Cree is easier after you know how to speak Cree. I know that I still struggle with writing Cree and it's my first language. It can be done with books and finding people to talk to. I know several people who have done this. The key is to try. Try harder and never give up. It's a worthwhile goal.
These youth just want to go home
I grew up hunting moose. They even run by my house in the bush. I never shoot them unless I need the meat. Their populations are down so I will find other ways ...to feed myself. Its the right thing to do. Just cuz I can shoot them doesnt mean that I can shoot them. Anishinabek have laws to follow. We owe the Moose Nation our utmost Respect. See more
