March 18 is World Juvenile Arthritis Day so today, we want to help shine a light on JA! Co-owner, Jessica, battled Juvenile Arthritis as a child and we want to use this day to share her story and spread some awareness about this pediatric illness. Arthritis is often stereotyped as an old person’s disease and we want you to know that #kidsgetarthritistoo A note from Jess: ... "I was finally diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis around age 6. I just longed to run and play and have the same fun as other kids my age. One of the hardest parts for me was having an invisible disease so people, especially kids, didn’t realize or understand the chronic pain that I was experiencing, all while trying to be a regular kid. I dreamed of pain-free days without dozens of pills, dreaded hours spent at doctor’s offices and the trial and error of managing my pain and lesson the deterioration of my joints. I was lucky enough to move into remission around 15 years old and yet to have a flare up since. I came out with a lot of joint damage that does affect a lot of my regular movement and will for the rest of my life, but this is much more manageable without the chronic pain! Again, I wanted to share my story to shine some light on this disease that effects so many kids. Also, if there is anyone out there who is going through a similar experience and would like to talk to someone who has been through the pain, please reach out!"
