Swipe right! Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for North, Central and South Okanagan indicating northerly wind gusts of 50 to 70 km/h this afternoon and early evening across Okanagan Lake. The statement also advises that recreational boaters should be prepared for strong and gusty winds, to exercise caution when on the lake and that boats may break free from moorings. We kindly ask that if you have a vessel currently in the basin, to please ensure it... has been securely tied up with no loose objects in the surrounding area. Our December newsletter mentioned some new changes being considered by Transport and Infrastructure in Canada including the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) replacing the Rental Boat Safety Checklist as proof of competency when renting a self-driven pleasure craft.
