With over 1,500 overdose deaths in Vancouver since April 2016, it's time for a new approach. Drugs use isn't a criminal issue, it's a health issue. My plan would see Vancouver become Canada's first jurisdiction to decriminalize simple possession. It's time to end the stigma around substance use, help connect more neighbours to health care, and save lives. Decriminalization is supported by Premier Horgan, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Dr. ...Patricia Daly, PIVOT Legal Society and many others. https://www.kennedystewart.ca/decriminalize_simple_possessi

On behalf of Vancouver City Council, I would like to extend my warmest wishes for a Happy Diwali. I know this year, things will look different. Instead of large gatherings, people will celebrate at home with their immediate households. But Diwali is about the triumph of light over darkness, and this lesson should give us hope that these challenges will pass if we stick together and stay safe. Happy Diwali!
This Remembrance Day looks different as we honour our veterans and their sacrifices, and recognize 75 years since the end of WWII. This year, we ask you to keep yourself and others safe by staying home and tuning into our ceremony online here: https://www.legionbcyukon.ca//victory-square-remembrance-d
