The 132 Renewal Project Team has been having conversations with our community and has reviewed public input from October 2020 Building a Vision and Exploring Opportunities stage. They have been gathering local knowledge, understanding technical constraints, exploring opportunities and reviewing City policies and programs. Coming up next in the 132 Avenue Renewal project, they will move into the Exploring Options and Tradeoffs stage, where they will explore design options for ...132 Avenue that reflect what they heard from the community. They will explain any associated benefits and tradeoffs of the design options and gather our feedback and ideas to be considered as they move toward a draft design. Edmonton Transit fare changes start February 1 On February 1, transit fare adjustments will take place for most fare categories. These adjustments help ETS provide safe and reliable transit service and maintain the vehicle fleet. The Fare Policy, approved by Council in 2019, is based on a model of affordability and a person’s ability to pay. ETS also has a number of fare programs that provide discounted transit passes, or free transit passes, to those who need additional s...upport. Notably, this year, there will be a new sliding scale for low income senior annual passes. This sliding scale will provide discounted transit for low income seniors, including free passes for those earning less than $29,069. Due to COVID-19, the Edmonton Service Centre and all City-operated recreation centres remain closed for in-person sales. Therefore, many passes need to be mailed, and Edmontonians should give themselves extra time to receive their passes through Canada Post. Many retail sales outlets, like Sobeys, Safeway and Shoppers Drug Mart, still sell fare products if needed quickly. ETS recommends calling the outlet to ensure they have the fare product you want in stock. For more information on fare adjustments, visit http://edmonton.ca/fares

Celebrate our winter city with Winterscapes! The City of Edmonton’s Winterscapes photo contest is back to recognize Edmontonians who beautify their neighbourhoods and build community spirit. While covered in snow, a yard can be a wonderful canvas to create beautiful scenes to add colour and joy to your area and for your neighbours to safely enjoy. A winterscape can include snow, ice, lights, ornaments and winter-themed scenery and can be built in a front yard or in a public s...pace. Participate by filling out the nomination form and submitting a photo of your own or someone else’s winterscape at http://edmonton.ca/winterscapes in one of three categories: Winter Art, Winter Garden or Winter Play. Nominations are accepted until February 28. All submitted photos will be posted on the City of Edmonton’s Facebook page for public voting. Prizes will be awarded to the top three yards in each category, and a special award will be given to the Winterscapes judging panel’s favourite yard.

The centennial celebration planning has been underway for the past few years, but organizers have had to adapt event plans to incorporate Covid-19 precautions and public health recommendations. Join the ceremony virtually by tuning in to the live-stream on Global News or on the Beverly Memorial Cenotaph Facebook page. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11. https://facebook.com/events/178468260136501

City of Edmonton PSA Remembrance Day - November 11, 2020 This year, due to the health risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no formal publi...c Remembrance Day ceremony in City Hall, and no public wreath-laying outside at the Cenotaph on the City Hall Plaza. To honour the contributions of military personnel, both past, and present, who have served in times of war and peace, Edmontonians are encouraged to observe this important day in other meaningful ways. This can be done by observing a private moment of reflection, making poppies to hang in your window, or taking time to learn about Canada’s rich military history. Poppies may be laid at a local Cenotaph if this can be done safely in accordance with the social distancing guidelines provided by Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health. https://www.edmonton.ca//city/remembrance-day-service.aspx
