G, FROM ONTARIO, MANAGER/SALESPERSON Ms. G lived with her son and had been working as a Manager/Salesperson at a used car dealership in Ontario. She had a policy with another company and since it was nearing the end of its term, reviewed her current needs with an agent and subsequently took out a 20 year term plan for $200,000 and $25,000 whole life policy with us. Her intention was to ensure her son could take care of himself, and that he would have no burden whenever she passed. She had been to a doctor in recent years for a congenital heart condition. She was committed to a healthy lifestyle and raising her teenage son. On third attempt, our underwriter did find a reinsurer to share the mortality risk due to cardiac history and with a rating a life policy was issued last year. We were notified of her sudden death in the spring of 2020. Ms. G was 48 years old at the time of her death. She was a nonsmoker, drank minimal alcohol and did not use illicit substances. Her son discovered Ms. G to be cold and unresponsive in her bed just after 9:00 am. The 9-1-1 system was activated at 9:08 am and she was moved to the floor for CPR. Paramedics determined that she was obviously dead and there were no further resuscitative efforts. Ms. G had a friend who had agreed to act as her son’s Trustee in the event of emergency. She did gather the necessary documents and submitted the claim to us. Our cheque was sent to her as Trustee for her minor son $225,000. See more

On November 1st, we were advised that Mrs. D was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had purchased a cancer plan in 2009.
