My children got to decorate the big Christmas tree with the help of their grandparents this week and it was so funny watching them string each ornament onto one of the branches. My oldest would look around for the perfect spot while my 2-year-old would stand on a stool and carefully put all his ornaments on just one favourite branch. Needless to say, a bit of discreet reorganising was needed afterwards! Capturing the fun of tree decorating is my new Christmas Tree Game which... kids can play either competitively or cooperatively. The Christmas Cookie Game! It’s been so popular with my students!! My 7-year-old student on Thursday asked if we could play it AGAIN over Zoom and my daughter loves to play it every night before bed. The story of the game is that the reindeers have gotten to the cookies before Santa, so if you draw a nibbled cookie out of the bag then you have to take a cookie off your plate. If you get a whole cookie you get to keep it and clap a simple rhythm card. Whoever had the most coo...kies at the end wins! This year I found it very hard to explain to my daughter what Remembrance Day is when she asked me. It wasn’t because I couldn’t find the words, but because I found tears welling up in my eyes.
