Be present. This is more a reminder for myself than anyone else. This morning I got up early, after going to bed too late and getting woken up twice during the night. I got up anyway to get some work done before the chaos ensued. Of course, I wasn’t done when it did. My reaction was to get frustrated. I was irritable all morning, trying to half pay attention to my kids while getting stuff done.... And I almost missed it. If I hadn’t shaken myself off and tried to regroup and set my feet in my present reality when I did, I would have missed out. This morning was the morning my daughter decided to be just the sweetest little peach in the world. She giggled and agreed to everything anyone suggested, she helped her brother get his shoes on and showed him how to play with a certain toy. Here I was, raging that I didn’t get my social media scheduled for the week, and she was spreading rays of sunshine every where she went. It was a good reminder of what really matters in life. These kids grow so fast, and if we don’t turn off our phones and pay attention, we’re going to miss their glorious childhood.

When should you book your newborn session? This is a question lots of expecting parents ask. And the answer is AS SOON AS YOU CAN! There really is no downside to being prepared. I have clients who book me before they tell their families about baby, and sinceI only take on 4-6 sessions per month so I can give each of you the best experience possible, it’s a good idea to get on my calendar as early as you can and make sure your due date is available!

This little guy was so happy wrapped in daddy’s arms . Big sister was needing a mommy moment so we decided to focus on little dude and dad, but baby was fussy. We decided to do what we could and then wait until Mom could soothe him. Dad had never held him like this, but he rested him against his chest and snuggled him and bounced and baby boy settled right down, relaxing into daddy’s big safe hands.

There are so many moments we’d love to capture each and every day. Childhood is sacred. The joy and beauty in it show their faces often. It would be wonderful to have a photographer follow you around all the time to make sure they get those moments, but it’s just not possible. That’s why I do #photographytiptuesday in my Facebook group! Each Tuesday I provide the mamas in my group with a new tip to capture better photos of their kids on their own If you’re a mama in the Greater Vancouver Area, join the group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/gvrdmomssupportingmoms/

Ok that tiny hand wrapped around mamas finger just gets me. Like seriously, I’m a puddle over here . That feeling of them grasping you. The itty bitty-ness of your baby. The heart-splitting open because it’s filled beyond capacity with love feeling. That’s what I want you to relive every time you look at your photos displayed in your home.

If you’re expecting your first sweet little one, you may be feeling overwhelmed trying to figure out exactly what you need for your tiny human. Don’t worry, I got you Having had 3 myself, there’s a few tried, tested and true items I recommend every mama have. There’s the obvious necessities like diapers, burp cloths, a breast pump (if you choose to breastfeed), a car seat, etc. But then there’s the things that just make life easier:... a wrap or ring sling a bouncer chair a mamaroo a playmat a lounger a hands-free bath towel If you’d like to hear about my personal favourite brands and what I’ve used, send me a DM! I’d love to chat!

You should have memories on your wall, not just of what your kids look like, but of who they are. Their tiny details. Their big personalities. Their care-free smile.... You know, those things that make you feel like you're going to burst with love for them. Too often, parents feel their photos are unnatural and lack personality. But let's do something different. Let's embrace the chaos in your life. Let's make memories instead of perfectly posed Christmas cards. So when your kids are no longer home for dinner every night, when they stop asking you to snuggle them to sleep, you'll be able to hold on to these early days. Send me a message or fill out the contact form on my website to chat about your spring session and capturing your family’s memories!

Do you have more than one child? If you do, did you feel excited or guilty when you were pregnant with your second? I totally felt like I was somehow betraying Paisley by having Seth. Now that they’re 4 and 2, sometimes I think I totally did when he runs up and smacks her in the face for no reason. But most of the time, I’m aware that despite the fact that she’d love all our attention, her brothers are a gift and she’d be terribly bored without them.

Do you have specific memories of your childhood? I think most of mine coincide with photographs we have. The rest feel more like a dream than actual memories. What’s your earliest childhood memory?

I’m missing these two lovely ladies today. When COVID started to spread here, I assumed it was just like the swine flu or any of the other diseases we’ve seen over my life time. I assumed people would freak out over nothing and in a month people would forget all about it. Boy was I wrong. I never expected it would separate us from some of our favourite people for such a long time and change the way life as we know it operated. It’s been 3/4 of a year and I’m still in a bit of disbelief. Anyone else feel this way?

So it hit me the other day that the most exciting days of my life are behind me. Now, I don’t mean that in a depressed I’m so old kind of way, because I’m really not. And I don’t mean that to say nothing exciting is ever going to happen again. But all the big life-changing news - the things you call family and friends to tell them right away and post on social media - marriage, new babies, that sort of stuff. I’ve checked it all off the list. So now it’s time to find new things to excitedly proclaim to the world. As a mom with three kids, I think I’ll start calling my parents excitedly to tell them I flossed today! And All three kids had baths this week! You know - the big accomplishments. #momlife

This recent newborn session was just so dreamy! And I'm still impressed by how sweet and well-behaved their toddler was! Check out the session on the blog!

I’m hanging out with my baby boy while waiting on all my October babies to join us! Two are taking their sweet time, but personally, I don’t mind the extra time off getting my snuggles in with my own newborn!

Hey! It’s been a while! Between baby Cohen joining us four weeks ago (man that went by FAST!) and moving last week and attempting to survive a week with no internet and super tired kids, I’ve hardly had time to think about social media! But we’re settling in, the internet was hooked up today and I’m looking forward to figuring out our new normal! I’m so excited to get back to doing what I love this coming Monday with my first session since I had Cohen, but for now, I’ll leave you with my gorgeous friend Sasha and her sweet little girl!

Kindred Photography 13.11.2020

This past Saturday morning we welcomed our third sweet baby. Cohen joined us at home at 2:13am on October 10. We’re taking some time to recover and recuperate and adjust to being a family of five. I may be slow to respond to inquiries and be a bit quiet on social media over the next few weeks while we all get acquainted

I totally missed the boat on this and am sort of regretting it, but did you know that you can book a 3 and 4D ultrasound? ! Check out my blog post on UC Baby Surrey and all the cool things they offer for expectant parents! https://kindredphotography.ca/uc-baby-surrey/

While waiting for baby I'm keeping my schedule pretty clear, but last week one of my besties and I decided an impromptu mommy and me session was necessary, and man, am I so glad we did! Isn't she just beautiful? And her little man is the sweetest <3

This year has been weird to say the least. Expecting a baby in the middle of a global pandemic was not what I pictured for my year. I know a lot of expectant and new mamas have the same question on their mind - is it safe to have newborn photos during COVID-19? Read the blog below! https://kindredphotography.ca/newborn-photos-during-covid/
