we've said goodbye to the Papaya Poke Bowl for now, only to make room for another favourite - the Laksa bowl. this warm and comforting soup is perfect for these bright + cold days. we make our laksa curry paste from scratch using lemongrass, ginger, galangal, cashews, cumin, coriander, turmeric, lime (and more!). we serve the curried coconut broth alongside vermicelli noodles, zucchini, carrots, tofu, sprouts + cilantro. available all week for lunch!

who has tried our new Kind London Fog?! this one was a work in progress for very long while, as we worked to get the recipe juuuust right. we finally settled on a recipe with steamed organic soy milk (this milk had the best flavour profile and creaminess), earl grey tea, coconut butter, coconut sugar, vanilla, and bergamot oil (to bring out that signature earl grey flavour that you know and love!). this is a tea latte that you are going to want to try. it's the best for bringing on that feeling of coziness during the holiday season!

we couldn’t help but have a little fun last Thursday, on our busiest day yet! Thank you Whitehorse for supporting this vision and this little dream! I spent the weekend taking some time to reflect on this past year and the adventure it has been. I can’t help but feel so much gratitude for all of the humans that have helped along the way - from my parents who are constantly helping to keep this place going, to my support system of friends always there to listen and celebrate the milestones - to this incredible team of intelligent and inspiring women I have been so lucky to work with this past year: Laura, Hannah, Kate, Luanda, Meghan, Meghan, Kate, Zoey, Brooklyn, Lucy, Rachel, Paula, Maggie & Aimee - you have all played a role in bringing this vision to life and I am so thankful for you!!

Whitehorse, wow! We were absolutely blown away by the amount of lovely people that came by on Thursday to celebrate our first anniversary. All of the profits made from Thursday’s event have been donated to the Gwich’in Steering Committee to help with their efforts in protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge against oil exploration and extraction. We are so grateful to our community in helping us support this cause that we care so deeply about. What happens in the Arctic... happens to the World. Alright everyone - we’re so excited to tell you about tomorrow! it’s our birthday! we’ve officially been open for an entire year! 6 of those months during a pandemic, and we’re still here. so we think that’s reason to celebrate! We couldn’t be happier about this milestone and we have all of you to thank for that. So, we are celebrating tomorrow with a few special menu items! some new and some old (hint hint your favourite dessert..) Stop by anytime between 10am and 4pm to say... hi and grab a snack! As a values driven business, we wanted to say thank you to our community on this special day by giving something back. That is why all of our profits from tomorrow are going to be donated to a cause that we care about. As most of you have probably heard, a few weeks ago, The US government made an unprecedented decision to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to oil and gas drilling. The fight to protect this sacred Gwich’in land and the Porcipine Caribou Herd has been going on for decades and will continue until protection is in place. We hope you can stop by tomorrow, enjoy your favourite Kind treat and show your support in helping protect these life giving lands!

The next part of the story is the part where I made it my goal that I was going to start a café in my hometown. I quickly became obsessed with this dream of mine, and for several years it was really all I could think about. I started writing down my business plan, crafting menu ideas and drawing inspiration from everywhere I went. I collected menus on all of my travels (I even still have one from a cute cafe in Mumbai), I started growing a small greenhouse in my bedroom (plan...ts for the one day cafe), and I spent all of my spare time in the kitchen honing my recipes. Although all of that sounds super exciting and dreamy - the years leading up to finally taking that leap were not easy. The busyness of daily life crept in, and although the dream was always a constant in the back of my mind, it felt impossible to make any real progress towards making it a reality. How do I ever have enough money to do this? How do I find a space? It wasn’t until March 2018, after having a very motivational conversation with a close friend, that I finally made a plan for my plan. I gave myself a deadline, one year. One year to financially prepare myself, find a physical space and to really get started on making this dream come true.

What’s behind the name, Kind? I’ve had a lot of people ask this question over the years and aside from the obvious - food that is kind to your body, your mind, the planet and the animals - it has always been difficult for me to articulate the meaning in its entirety. So here goes. Back when I decided on the name Kind, at that point in my life there was this overwhelming feeling that the world was in need of more kindness (which very much still holds true). And I, like many, w...as overwhelmed by that feeling and how I as one individual could make a difference in creating change. As my passion for food, nutrition and wellness really started to grow - I started to see the connection between the food choices we make and the world around us. What we eat impacts so much more than just ourselves. The reality is, our food system is insanely complex and although it might be hard to make the right choice every time, I truly believe if we all got even a little bit more mindful surrounding these choices, we could really bring a lot more kindness into our world. I think this is what Kind is it is a vow to get intentional and empower those around us to also get intentional too. There’s also a certain softness to the word kind that I really love and that resonates with what I want to put out into the world. We live in a world of extremes, and perfectionism. Kind is not about that, it is not about being perfect, or prescribing to a certain dogma - it is about being a little bit more intentional with your decisions and actions, trying your best to choose the kinder option, and creating that ripple effect that will ultimately lead to a kinder world <3.

at Kind we place a lot of importance on the quality of our ingredients. for that reason, we thoughtfully source each ingredient to make sure it is organic, whole food that is as fresh as we can get. it is very important to us that we support our local food producers whenever it is possible, and right now there is an abundance of incredible, fresh, organic produce being grown right here at home. so we have gone straight to the source for the greens in our caesar salad - with y...ukon grown organic kale and romaine we put so much love into preparing our kale (yes we massage it ) before we we toss these incredible greens in our house made vegan caesar dressing that we make with organic cashews and hemp seeds. then we top it with with our pumpkin seed parmesan and the most addicting savoury seed crumble (think savoury granola). you can also add our coriander marinated tofu for that added plant protein See more

hello sweet people! we are a officially a few weeks away from our first birthday here at the Kind Café, so now seems like a good time to start reminiscing on this whirlwind year we’ve had! On this day, 12 months ago, I (Meg - the one in the photo and the one behind birthing this little café into the world) was busy working away, putting the finishing touches on the thousand and one things needed to make it to our opening day! But first - I’d like to take you back a little fur...ther than that to when the first seed was officially planted towards what would one day be this café! Iced Chaga Chai // we make our Chaga Chai concentrate in house (that’s pretty much the main reason the café always smells so nice). It is our take on the Indian Masala Chai made with: whole cardamom, cloves, star anise, peppercorn, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla. We add the powerful chaga mushroom to the pot while it’s all simmering for its immune boosting, antioxidant benefits. To serve, it is mixed with almond milk and coconut sugar. It’s been a fan favourite since we opened our doors and for the summer we have given it a little twist by serving it on ice! (you can still order it hot). we’ve put a lot of attention on our lunch bowls lately - we hope you haven’t forgotten about our house favourite, the Carrot Lox toast! For those of you that haven’t tried it yet, this is our take on the classic salmon lox, but we swapped salmon for carrots - rest assured, you still get that incredibly satiating quality from the carrots as they are done in a smokey marinade, paired with a house made vegan cream cheese, capers, dill, red onion and nori for that taste of the sea. we use @alpinebakery sourdough - or make it gluten free with our house made oat & seed bread. the lox toast is the perfect lunch when paired with a side of our hemp caesar salad. see you tomorrow for lunch, we’re open 10am - 4pm!

the iced matcha latte // one of our personal favourites. if you’re someone that enjoys the benefits of caffeine but a cup of coffee leaves you all jittery and anxious (that’s me ), then matcha will change your world. the caffeine in matcha is absorbed differently because of the amino acid called L-theanine found in green tea that actually eases anxiety. so you get that nice awakened feeling but you also feel calm, cool and collected. we make our matcha with oat milk and a bit of honey. try it hot or iced!

okay okay okay our new special is finally here - sorry about the wait! it’s a SMOKEY TACO SALAD! we’ve got the juiciest portobello mushrooms paired with a smokey lentil and caramelized onion taco ‘meat’ (not meat at all but a great source of protein & iron), pickled red cabbage, brown rice, house made tomato salsa, kale & romaine with a sneaky caesar dressing - all drizzled in a avocado yogurt sauce. it’s perfect paired with our new chlorella mint lemonade and a healthy dose of Yukon sunshine!
