Kingston Regional Heritage Fair

Here's Stew Ross, Treasurer of the KRHF, accepting a cheque from Kingston Mayor, Bryan Paterson earlier this month as part of The City of Kingston Heritage Fund! The grant will support many local students and schools to participate in the Kingston Regional Heritage Fair coming up on May 10, 2019 and in a variety of enriching pre-fair workshops. The Kingston Regional Heritage Fair is coming up in just over a month on May 10th! Leading up to the fair we're going to highlight some of the community groups who will be joining us at Community Street. Organizations at Community Street have their own tables that students can visit and learn more what these local groups have to offer! This year we're happy to welcome back the dedicated history enthusiasts at the Historical Costume Club of Kingston! Members of this group make... their own or purchase costumes from various eras spanning the mid 1700's to the early 1900's. Our fair-goers will get the opportunity to dress themselves up in some outfits from this rich collection! If you've always wanted your own historical costume, then consider joining their monthly sewing group - https://www.facebook.com/historicalcostumeclubkingston/. And finally we're still looking for a few more volunteers, particularly French judges! Make sure to let us know if you're interested!

Bénévoles recherchés! La Fête régionale du patrimoine de Kingston est animé par des bénévoles. Chaque année, plus de 3000 personnes de partout en province mettent leur temps et leurs talents au profit de dix-huit fêtes pour les étudiants de l’Ontario. Certains bénévoles participent aux comités de planification, alors que d’autres agissent à titre de juges, chefs de groupes, présentateurs lors d’ateliers, et/ou comme assistants en général. Pour la Fête régionale du patrimoine... de Kingston elle-même, plus de 100 volontaires sont requis chaque année pour assurer le succès de la Fête. Each year, the Kingston Regional Heritage Fair holds a research fair for approximately 300 local elementary and middle school students. Students submit projects on an aspect of personal, local, or national heritage for adjudication. Superior projects are awarded prizes and those students progress onwards to a Provincial Fair. We are currently seeking 50 volunteer judges (English and/or French- speaking) and 20 support staff to assist with the operation of our 2019 Fair. On-si...te Orientation and Materials provided. Morning, Afternoon, and All Day shifts available. Light refreshments will be provided for all volunteers. Volunteers remaining the entire day will be served a free lunch.
