A huge shout out to Dr. Lyndsay Clarke, Dr. Julie Reed , Dr. Lisa Vander Wilp and Dr. Heather Melinynshyn on this World Veterinary Day.
Leptospirosis is a disease caused by bacteria carried mainly by rodents and wildlife. Pets can become infected through contact with the urine of infected animal...s such as raccoons, skunks and rats. Dogs can also contract the disease by swimming in stagnant water or drinking contaminated puddle water. If your dog spends time in nature and you’re concerned about the disease, speak to your veterinarian to learn if the leptospirosis vaccine is suitable for your pet. See more
Did you know ? A female tick can lay over 5000 eggs in her lifetime. To reproduce however, the tick needs to feed. Don’t let her feed on your dog! Speak with our staff about an all-in-one preventative that protects your dog against not only ticks but also fleas, heartworm, roundworm and hookworm.

Just a reminder that veterinary services are considered essential and practices can stay open in all parts of Ontario. As we continue to navigate COVID-19, vete...rinary clinics are implementing various ways of delivering health care for your pets while keeping patients, clients and veterinary staff safe. This could include telemedicine, curbside service, visitor screening, and restricting the number of people at appointments to allow for social distancing. For the smoothest service, follow your veterinary clinic’s guidelines. To find out what protocols your veterinary clinic has in place, visit its website, social media pages or inquire by email. Final heartworm/flea/tick prevention to be given! Did you know heartworm prevention medication works retroactively to take care of any exposure from the month prior? That's why even though it's cold in November we still give the heartworm prevention since we still see mosquitoes early October. Fleas and ticks are also around especially indoors where it's still warm.
Happy Halloween !!! Do you dress up your pet for Halloween ?
